Greetings, Hosmer Families!
I hope that your summers were relaxing and fun. Our teachers and staff members returned last week and engaged in lots of learning and preparation for the new year. We are excited and ready for the school year to begin!
Arrival on the First Day
On September 3rd, we invite all students to gather at their designated meeting spots which are the same places they will also be dismissed at the end of every day. You will have the opportunity to greet your child's new teacher, who will be holding a sign with their name.
These are the meeting spots for each grade. There is also a map labeled below.
Kindergarten - Blue Courtyard Door - Door # 3
1st Grade - Blue Courtyard Door - Door # 3
2nd Grade - Purple Door (Hosmer Main Entrance) - Door # 4
3rd Grade - Blue Street Door - Door # 5, closest to the Main Entrance on Concord Rd, near the School Garden
4th Grade - Blue Street Door - Door # 5, closest to the Main Entrance on Concord Rd
5th Grade - Green Door - Door #6, closest to Brigham House on Concord Rd.
Kindergarten Phased-In Start
If your child is entering Kindergarten, please look closely at the start dates listed below. The first full day of Kindergarten is Thursday, September 5th.
Classroom Directories
By now you should have received a newsletter from your child's classroom teacher. Many teachers have included links to establish an open classroom directory with other families in the classroom. I encourage you to think about whether or not you would like to share your contact information and to do so there if you would like to connect with your child's classmates. Please note that classroom teachers cannot share messages from families, including party invitations, etc. in classroom newsletters.

The guide linked below has information about drop-off, pick-up, absences from school, and the code of conduct. It also includes contact information for student support. We encourage you to open and read this document.

- Tuesday, October 1st - Hosmer Open House, 6:00-7:30
Tuesday, September 3rd: Assigned Orientation Appointment – Small Group Visit
Your student will visit the Kindergarten classroom and meet with the teacher and a few other classmates. Children can tour the classroom and other important places, such as playgrounds, bathrooms, and entrance/dismissal locations. These visits will last 30 minutes. Caregivers are asked to remain at Hosmer during this orientation session.
Extended Day Programs (Before and After School) will not be available for kindergarteners on this day.
Wednesday, September 4th: 8:15 – 12:00 Noon (Snack & Lunch)
Arrival begins at 8:05
Students will practice their first arrival, meet their new classmates, and learn the morning routines. Children will enjoy a morning snack and will eat lunch at school. Parents/caregivers and children will have the opportunity to practice dismissal procedures at 12:00 Noon.
Extended Day Programs (Before and After School) will not be available for kindergarteners on this day.
Thursday, September 5th, and Friday, September 6th: Full-Day: 8:15 – 2:30 (Snack & Lunch)
Arrival begins at 8:05
Children will experience a full day of school.

Hello Hosmer families!! We are excited to start a healthy, safe, and fun school year! If your child(ren) require(s) medication in school it needs to be brought directly to the Nurses' Office. Please DO NOT have children bring these meds to school themselves.
For those with allergies/ asthma/ or seizures who require rescue medication, please drop off the following:
- The rescue medication (including benadryl for any allergy plan- we do not keep this at school)- Please CHECK EXPIRATION DATES!
- The emergency action plan in the event of an emergency
For those with daily medications to be given in school, please bring in the following:
- The medication in the original prescription bottle
- Doctors' Orders from a physician that outlines the medication, dose, time, and any other instructions for administration
Other things to send in with your child:
- A change of clothes- multiple underwear
- Apply sunscreen at home (we do not have sunscreen)
- Water bottle

We hope you all had a wonderful summer! It's hard to believe the school year is starting soon - we're looking forward to seeing you all back at Hosmer!
We wanted to share a few announcements as we gear up for the new school year. All of this information can also be accessed in the Hosmer PTO newsletter - link to view and subscribe is here.
1. The Hosmer PTO Welcome Picnic will be September 12 from 5-7pm at the Hosmer School. We will have activities facilitated by Knucklebones, pizza and snacks available to purchase, Hosmer t-shirts and water bottles for sale, and plenty of space to mingle and meet other Hosmer families.
We need volunteers to make this event a success, so please sign up here if you are able to help out before, during, or after the event.
2. We are thrilled to welcome new board members to the PTO board this year. The Hosmer PTO board is responsible for the administrative function of the PTO, ensuring events and initiatives run smoothly, and engaging the broader Hosmer community per the PTO's mission.

3. We are looking for volunteers for our 5th grade activities committee, to take the lead on fundraising and activities to celebrate our outgoing Hosmer 5th graders. Please email info@hosmerpto.org to learn more and to join the committee. Thanks!
4. The schedule of PTO meetings for this year school year will be announced soon! We will share the dates and times via newsletter and on the PTO Facebook page. Our goal this year is to host meetings in-person at Hosmer, to facilitate more community connection at these meetings. If you have any requests or ideas for these meetings - guest speakers you'd like to see, topics you'd like us to cover - please reach out!
