Huntley Happenings ~ October 10th
Family Newsletter
Hello Huntley families,
This year, we are celebrating our Learners of the Month. Students received a certificate and their picture is on display outside the main office. Each grade level will pick two students that exemplify academic excellence and stamina in their own learning. Our September recipients are:
- 5th grade: Eleanor B. and Isaiah F.
- 4th grade: Maddux B. and Reggie K.
- 3rd grade: Grayson M. and Kennedy M.
- 2nd grade: Lucas C. and Esmee G.
- 1st grade: Liam S. and Reagan L.
- Kindergarten: Sammy F. and Charlotte C.
Next week is Walk/Roll to School Week. See one of our Safety Patrol members to get your ticket to enter in the prize bin. If you cannot Walk/Roll to school, see your PE teacher to get a slip so you can do your activity at home and get a ticket to enter in the prize drawing. Families, this is also a good time to remind your child about some safety rules when crossing intersections, the importance of wearing a helmet, and the buddy system. Have fun and be safe!
Just a reminder our Parent-Teacher Conferences scheduled for Thursday, October 17th and Tuesday, October 22nd. Please sign up for a time that you can meet with your child's teacher(s) using the link below. The Scholastic Book Fair will be open in the auditorium throughout conference nights from 3:30-7:30.

Sandy Slope Updates
I am pleased to announce that Sandy Slope's mascot will be the Lightning Bugs. All students and staff at Huntley Elementary will be given two or three choices of what the mascot could look like and be able to vote for their favorite design. The design that has the highest number of votes will be the mascot design for Sandy Slope.
Please keep an eye on the silo out by Sandy Slope. The top is going to be painted "burnt orange" the color of the college team the Texas Longhorns. In spring/summer "Sandy Slope" will be put on the silo along with the mascot design.
I am asking for any student interested to write a short narrative of what they think Sandy Slope is going to be like or what they hope the school will be like. If you have a younger child, they can write a short narrative or they can draw a picture of what they think the school will look like. Should your child participate in this opportunity, I would ask for you to include on the narrative or drawing:
Child's first and last name
Grade they will be for the 2025-2026 school year
These narratives or drawings will be included in a time capsule that will be buried in the floor of the principal's office at Sandy Slope. If your child plans on participating, please have the narratives or drawings turned into your child's teacher by Thursday, October 24. Thank you for considering!
As more information or updates come up I will pass them along.
In partnership on this journey!

Schedule Your 3-5 year Old Child's Screening
Parents/guardians do not need to have concerns to schedule a screening.
The Developmental Screening is designed to:
- Educate families about typical child development and growth
- Develop/Expand awareness of available community resources
- Identify young children in need of further assessment
The Screening looks at all areas of child development including:
- How your child talks
- How your child listens
- How your child thinks
- How your child moves
- How your child uses their hands
The district offers many programs and services for children who may need support before kindergarten to achieve school success.
Screenings are held at the Community Early Learning Center, 313 S. State St., Appleton, WI 54911. Screening appointments are held during the school year from September through March.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact:
