Another Thanksgiving Dessert Potluck In the Books
Which was your favorite?
We had another amazing turn out for the LT Thanksgiving Dessert Potluck. We are so lucky to be part of a community where we have so many talented cooks and we have such a large portion of our community who come together over food. We know that breaking break - or brownies - together allows us to share stories, to connect with each other, and to experience the support and interdependence of community. Thank you to all the cooks, all the tasters, to those who decorated, and to all our staff who stayed long hours to participate.
Mr. Barnes survived!
In his first Potluck, Mr. Barnes volunteered as a judge for the dessert contest. That is a huge responsibility and a huge amount of dessert! He was excited to be part of the amazing event and to really see what makes our community special.
Where's your favorite dessert?
The potluck is truly a special time in our community.
Community Workers
Our flag pole needs a little work but, how do you get to the top? You ask the local ladder truck to come out and help.
Here to help
The local ladder truck helped us to restring the cord to our flag pole so we can rehang our flags. Not an easy task. And, no, they won't just let you walk up the ladder (we tried).
Parent Visitor Policies
We have received some feedback that our polices around parent visitors to the build can feel less than welcoming. We love our community! We are here because of our amazing parents, caregivers, grandparents, and siblings. We are because you are. It is also our responsibility to maintain the security of the building and to preserve instructional time. Therefore, we ask all visitors to the building to follow theses guidelines:
- All visitors must sign in at the security desk
- If you are picking up a student, report to the office immediately so we may call your student down
- Treat all staff with courtesy and respect - they are here so your child can learn
- Schedule meetings for any staff visits - this includes Principal Miller
- Be prepared to show a state issues ID
We know that many parents come to volunteer at school. If you are volunteering to decorate, support, or visit a class, you must have a prearranged appointment with your teacher or appropriate staff.
There are times we ask to limit outside visitors to the building to ensure we can transition students safety. This includes between 2:30pm and 3:30pm. We also ask that you do not pick up early from Aftercare, before students are transitioned to their supervision. If you need to retrieve your student who normally goes to aftercare, please contact your child's teacher as soon as possible of the change in dismissal.
We hope that you understand our polices are aimed as a safe and focused learning environment for your amazing children.
