Helping Everyone Succeed 11/10/2024
A Note from the Principal
Hartman families,
Part of creating our legacy at Hartman is supporting student growth in their vocabulary. "The size of a child's vocabulary is an accurate predictor of academic achievement and even upward mobility over the course of a lifetime (Hirsch, 2013). It is clear that educators across all content areas and grade levels need to provide an enriched environment and implement a broad repertoire of strategies that will immerse all our students in words. The importance of teaching these words cannot be overstated."
You can help too by using higher level vocabulary with your child, and supporting commonly used words with more rigorous ones. Replace words like "things" with "materials" or "equipment" and replace "buckle" with "fasten". With minor changes like these, you will increase your student's awareness of words around them and help enrich their own use of vocabulary.
Thanks for building the first steps in a bright future for your student! We appreciate you!

A Message from Mrs. Nohrenberg
Thank you for supporting our Food Drive! Our last day to collect items will be this Wednesday, Nov. 13th. Let’s work together to reach our goal. We will start the week off with a weekend challenge. The grade level that brings the most food items on Monday will get an extra recess!!
Last week our Relational Skills lesson was on Generosity and Charity. Here is a parent companion piece to help facilitate conversations about the lesson with your child at home. Our Food drive is a great opportunity for our students to practice generosity and charity.
Thank you for your support. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. (972) 429-3489 or debbie.nohrenberg@wylieisd.net .
Attendance Information
The week of October 28th, 98% of our 4th graders were here everyday! How awesome it that!? Every week we will post each grade level and campus attendance percentage. At the end of the 9 weeks, the grade level that has the students here the most will earn a reward. 😁
We love seeing our Cool Cats everyday! Remember our doors open at 7:00 am.

You can also celebrate in one of the following ways:
- Birthday Books - Mrs. Tami is sending home a flyer this week with information about how to order a birthday book honoring your child and their birthday.
- Birthday Marquee - pick up a flyer in the front office to have your child's name and birthday presented on the marquee for only $10.
- Birthday Treats - If you want to bring treats to celebrate your child's birthday, be sure to follow the district policy below.
