Key Items
- Rushmore Elementary was the School Spotlight for March. Students wowed the Board and audience with their number fluency abilities, highlighting the focus being placed on this important aspect of mathematics success. Principal Alison Foreman provided a video of classroom instruction across all grade levels, demonstrating instructional practices focused on improving student achievement.
- Wayne High School Track Coach Mike Fernandez introduced six indoor track state champions from the recent meet in Geneva, OH. Both boys and girls teams were state runner-ups.
- The 2024-2025 preschool calendar was presented for review. No action was taken, and it is anticipated the calendar will be recommended for approval in April.
- The final draft document of the new HHCS Strategic Plan was presented and approved. Many thanks to the entire committee for their commitment and engagement with this process, as well as to the facilitating team of Deb Campbell and Frank Forsthoefel from K-12 Business Consulting. A special thank you to Wendy Barhorst, our new public relations supervisor from MCESC, for the graphic design of the final product.
- The Board approved several personnel items, including the resignation of two key leadership positions in the district - Dwon Bush, Principal of Monticello Elementary, and Nate Baker, Athletic Director. Mr. Enix and the Board acknowledged both for their service to HHCS and wished them well in their future endeavors.
- Several policy updates had a second reading, and the Board waived the third reading, approving those policies.
- A partnership proposal with WPAFB to bring the Anchored4Life program to Monticello and support kits to Studebaker was approved. The program is a school club designed to support military-connected students. Monticello serves the highest population of these students, and as a community closely connected to WPAFB, there is hope to expand this program across the district in the future.
- A number of donations were approved, totaling nearly $6,000, along with additional goods/services/supports for buildings across the district.
