WOODVIEW NEWS
January 31. 2025
Note from: Mr. Cook
As we enter the colder months, students are bundling up with hats, scarves, earmuffs, and more. To help prevent the spread of head lice in school, we encourage you to talk with your child(ren) about avoiding behaviors that can contribute to transmission. Some helpful tips include:
· Encouraging your child to avoid hair-to-hair contact during playtime.
· Reminding them not to share clothing items such as hats, hair ribbons, barrettes, scarves, coats, or sports uniforms.
· Teaching them not to share combs, brushes, or other personal grooming items.
Additionally, as flu season, colds, and respiratory illnesses make their rounds, it’s important to reinforce good hygiene practices. Here are a few simple steps your child(ren) can take to help prevent the spread of illness:
· Always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing and throw used tissues away immediately. If a tissue isn't available, cough or sneeze into your elbow, not your hands.
· Teach your child the proper way to wash their hands—thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
· Regularly clean frequently touched surfaces, such as doorknobs, countertops, and handrails, to reduce the spread of germs.
Thank you for helping us create a healthier and safer environment for all students!

How to Show Respect
To show respect at school, you can: listen attentively when others are speaking, raise your hand to share your thoughts, follow classroom rules, use polite language like "please" and "thank you", be considerate of others' feelings, avoid interrupting, and treat teachers and classmates with courtesy, even when you disagree with them;
mindful behavior towards everyone around you.
