Booster Club
Thank you for those who attended the final meeting of the year. We were able to approve almost $63,000 of grants this year. Our grants benefitted 14 of the OSAA recognized teams and 16 clubs and club sports. We look forward to our continued support of these important activities in the coming years.
You can help by contributing to our general fund for the next grant cycle! Your donations are tax deductible :) https://www.schoolpay.com/parent/mip/MdH3

Volunteer!
We have filled our spots for volunteering this year in the concession stands. But watch for more opportunities in the late summer and early fall :) However, we are still currently seeking a volunteer to lead the Scrip Fundraiser for the Booster Club in a board member capacity. This role will largely be marketing and networking for scrip as there is already a dedicated volunteer who does all the ordering and distribution. Please reach out to Kirsten Carr kirstenc@ibwboosterclub.org to discuss details if you are interested.

Yearbook Update
Dear Ida B Wells Families,
Thank you for your patience with the yearbook delay. After contacting the accounts manager at Balfour and speaking with the yearbook staff, the Yearbook team has decided that the easiest way for students to get their yearbooks in the most timely manner is to have them shipped directly from Balfour at no cost to you or the school. If your student would rather pick up their yearbook in late August or early September 2024 instead of having it shipped, please email Keith Higbee at khigbee@pps.net by June 10th so that your student can be removed from the shipping list. It is important to note that the address your book will be shipped to will be the one listed on SchoolPay at the time of your original yearbook purchase. If you have moved since paying for your yearbook on SchoolPay, please email Keith Higbee at khigbee@pps.net by June 10th with an address change so that we can update our shipping records. Balfour, Ida B. Wells High School, and the IBW yearbook program are not responsible for books shipped to previous addresses if we have not been alerted to an address change by June 10th. If you have not yet purchased a yearbook, you can still do so on SchoolPay by June 10th to have it shipped to you directly. Any unsold yearbooks can be purchased during registration in August 2024 for $75. If you have any further questions, please contact Keith Higbee at khigbee@pps.net.
Report Cards: Go Paperless!
We have an important announcement regarding a change in how we distribute report cards. Due to significant budget cuts, the print shop at the district is closing its doors. As a result, our school will need to print and mail report cards, incurring substantial costs.
To help mitigate these expenses and streamline our processes, we're offering the option to receive report cards electronically through ParentVue. By opting in to paperless report cards, you not only help reduce our environmental footprint but also assist in preserving vital school funds for other educational needs.
Please note that for paperless report cards to be effective, both parents must opt in. If only one parent opts in, a paper copy will still be mailed to your home.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this transition. Together, we can make a positive impact on both our school's finances and the environment.
To learn how to opt in please click this link.

Need a Sports Physical?
The Grauer Back-to-School Project
The Grauer Project is a back-to-school event giving out backpacks, school supplies, coats, shoes, socks, and shirts to roughly 300 Southwest Portland students each year. These items are provided to students Kindergarten to 12th grade in the Ida B. Wells cluster school district that are eligible for free and reduced lunch.
Over the last 22 years, we have provided these items on the second Saturday of August. This year’s back-to-school event will be Saturday, August 10, at St. Luke Lutheran Church. New this year, the event registration will open online on Tuesday, May 14, at 8:00 a.m. Families and students can schedule their back-to-school shopping appointments in advance by using this pre-registration link and selecting a time slot that works for them. Availability is limited per time slot. Pre-registration is not required but encouraged.
Sincerely,
Grauer Project Committee
Firearm Storage
The Central Oregon Suicide Prevention Alliance (COSPA) launched its Central Oregon Secure Firearm Storage website along with a Safe Storage PSA in English this past week. We encourage you to check out these new resources and learn what secure firearm storage is, and what options people have for secure storage both inside the home and outside of the home. Their website also includes conversation starters for those who may want to talk with someone about safe storage but aren’t sure how to address it.
