From the Principal's Desk
Hello Little Viking Families,
Can you believe we are closing out September and moving into October? Fall is flying by and we are focused on some great learning at school. Most Kindergarten students have finished their fall iReady assessments and those results will be sent home to families next Friday, October 4th.
Today we announced an exciting fall reading incentive for all of our students! Students are coming home with information today, and preschool students will come home with information on Monday but see my bullets below for all the exciting details!
Don't forget that next week is picture day on Wednesday and we have a fire drill with the Elmhurst Fire Department on Thursday.
Updates/Reminders:
1) Fall Reading Incentive: Students will be coming home with a reading bingo board in their folder today (Preschool on Monday!) This board can stay in their folders and when they read at home, please mark off the square on their bingo board. The teachers will mark it off on their classroom as well. Classes will work together to get BINGOS throughout the month of October. When they get a BINGO, their class will add a different color leaf to our fall tree. When the tree is full, the school will earn a special surprise…..! Stay tuned for the announcement coming soon!
If YOU would like to add a leaf to our tree, please come to our parent community book study on October 2nd! RSVP and get more information below. Any parent who participates will earn a leaf to help our school fill our fall reading tree!
2) Please see the flyer below to register, but we are excited for our community book study on "The Anxious Generation." We are asking for RSVPs so we can order enough food for dinner from 6:30-7 and books for participants. Childcare will be provided. I am looking forward to this event as a parent myself!
3) Parent Volunteers: We have had both parents and teachers interested in partnering with parent volunteers during the school day. If you are able/interested, please complete this form and if there are tasks and times that we could use school volunteers, we will reach out to parens who have expressed interest. THANK YOU!
4) Reminder that PK, Kindergarten and new student physical and immunization records must be turned in to the school by October 15, otherwise students may be excluded from school until those records are on file.
Have a wonderful weekend Vikings!

I Love U Guys ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted an emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
Payments & Fees
A New Way to Pay Fees in Skyward
In your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
