We hope you're all having a fantastic summer! Whether you're splashing in the pool, exploring on vacation, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, it's a wonderful time to relax and recharge.

But with summer comes the gentle reminder that the new school year is just around the corner (August 20th to be exact!). To help you prepare, we've packed this newsletter with important information for a smooth start.

Here's what you'll find:

We want to take the opportunity to welcome our new families to Dressel. This night is to welcome our new 1st through 5th-grade families, take a tour of the school, and have a chance to ask questions. We hope to see you there!

Kindergarten families, mark your calendars! Our exciting Kindergarten Orientation is your chance to peek into the wonderful world of Dressel's Kindergarten. Meet your child's teacher, get a sneak peek at their classroom, and drop off those new school supplies. Learn all about Dressel, curriculum, life of a Kindergarten student, and more! This event is designed specifically for incoming kindergarteners and their families. Don't forget, at Orientation, you'll choose between Group 1 or Group 2. Group 1 will head straight to the classroom, while Group 2 will join our Dressel Ambassadors for a fun tour before meeting the teacher. A sign-up will come out soon! We can't wait to see you there!

Meet the Teacher Night for 1st-5th grade will be on August 15th from 5:30-7:20!

Meet the Teacher Night provides an opportunity for families and students to visit their new classroom, drop off school supplies, and of course meet your teacher! Families will sign up for a 20-minute time slot between 5:30 and 7:20. The sign-up link will be sent on when teacher placements are shared. Our hope is by having families sign-up for a time, we will keep our parking lot from being overcrowded and this will allow teachers to be able to spend more time with families individually. We hope to see you there!

Dressel uses the PikMyKid platform to improve the safety and efficiency of our pick-up process. Families will need to download the PikMyKid app on their cell phones. This free app can be found in the app store and will allow you to notify the school of pick-up changes, authorize others to pick-up your child from school, alert you when your child has been picked up or sent home on the bus, as well as help organize the car line during pick-up.

• The registration process is easy. If you have not done so already, we ask that all families register with the phone application as soon as possible. Please make sure you register with your personal current mobile phone number or the app will not allow you to access your child’s information for security reasons.

• If you do not think the school has your mobile number on file or if your child does not appear on your app’s home page, contact support@pikmykid.com after registration, with your child’s name, school, grade, and updated contact information for you.

• Anyone who will be picking up your child should also register themselves with the application. Their screen will be blank and they will not have any authorization until you allow it within the app.
