The Sanborn Spotlight

November 17, 2024
Over the last two weeks, GMS students have been busy learning and actively engaging in enjoyable and meaningful activities with their peers. We recently hosted two evening concert celebrations that showcased our students' incredible musical talents. Our 3rd and 4th graders honored Veteran's Day with a heartfelt tribute, while our 5th graders reminded us to cherish the little things in life through their uplifting performance. Both events were a wonderful display of creativity and talent!
Speaking of Veteran's Day, we held a school-wide assembly where our 3rd and 4th graders performed for their peers to recognize and celebrate all veterans.
This past week our students also earned a BINGO celebration by meeting our school-wide attendance goal in October. Students had lots of fun playing BINGO with their peers and the winners took home some pretty cool fall themed pencils and erasers!
Elearning Practice Day
This year, District 15 will be implementing eLearning on days with inclement weather. Devices will be sent home, so students can access Google Meets for live virtual instruction should we need to have an inclement weather day.
On Wednesday November 20th, students will bring home their devices, case, and charger including our K-2 students for our practice eLearning day. Please note Sanborn school will still be in session as normal during the day on 11/20 8:25-3:05.
All K-5 students should be expected to complete an online activity at home on their Chromebook to ensure that they are able to log in to their Chromebook at home and connect to their home WiFi. There will be no live virtual instruction after school. Students will practice logging into Google Meets at school on November 20th. At home, we are asking students to engage in a math assignment from our district curriculum, a NewsELA assignment, a SeeSaw activity, something assigned in Google Classroom, or another digital assignment. Teachers will share information specific to their classroom with families.
Teachers will send these directions home to K-2 students if those families need assistance connecting the Chromebook device to their home WiFi. Connect to Wifi (CB)
We understand that reliable internet access is crucial for student success. If your family is experiencing difficulties accessing the internet, please consider submitting a hotspot request. This device will provide your child with a portable Wi-Fi hotspot to connect to the internet from home.
To request a hotspot, please contact your teacher or call our school office.

Gratitude and Thanksgiving Wishes
It's hard to believe we are already in our final week before conferences and Thanksgiving. As we head into this final week of November together, my team and I would like to express our gratitude for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. This time of year reminds us to reflect on the people and connections we are most thankful for, and I am truly grateful for the partnership we share in fostering the growth and success of every child at Sanborn. Whether it's your encouragement at home, volunteering your time, supporting our PTA, or engaging with school events, your contributions make a lasting impact. On behalf of the entire GMS staff, I wish you and your family a joyful and restful Thanksgiving filled with love, gratitude, and unity.
