BEACON NEWS
JANUARY 2025
Winter Concerts
On Wednesday, January 22, Beacon Elementary School students will be performing a selection of their favorite winter songs under the direction of Mrs. Allison Fagerstedt, Elementary Creative Arts Teacher. Students are encouraged to wear nicer than normal school clothes or holiday attire to their performance. Students are to report to the Beacon multipurpose room on the evening of their concert.
Due to limited parking and space available in the multipurpose room, please strictly adhere to the arrival and departure times so that all families may have the opportunity to enjoy the performances.
Telecommunication Policy
We would like to bring to your attention an important matter regarding the use of recording devices in school, specifically watches that are capable of video recording and taking pictures.
Often times during the holiday season, we have noticed an increase in the use of such devices by some students in our school, and we feel it is necessary to remind parents and guardians about the potential implications and concerns associated with this behavior.
As a school, we have policies in place to protect the rights and privacy of all our students, staff, and visitors. The use of recording devices, including watches that can record others, is a violation of these policies. It is important to note that many students may not fully understand the implications of recording others without their consent and the potential consequences it can have.
We kindly request that you have a conversation with your child about the responsible and respectful use of technology in school. Please ensure that your child understands that recording others without their consent, whether it is in the playground or in the classroom, is not allowed and is a violation of our school's privacy policies.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and respectful learning environment for all our students. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact the school administration.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
Prepare for Inclement Weather
The MSD will initiate an automated phone call to the primary phone number listed on each student’s record to announce emergency schedule changes or school closures. Please log into your Skyward Family Access account to verify the primary phone number on your child’s record is correct.
Additional emergency information can be found on our district website:
http://www.monteschools.org/district-emergency-closure.
In the event of a late start, preschool classes will be cancelled. There is no breakfast service on late start days. In the event of a school closure due to weather, the school day will be made up on the designated weather day on the school calendar.
iReady Assessment Window
This month we will be using iReady again to assess students for their winter benchmarks. This online program helps us determine your child's needs, personalize their learning, and monitor progress throughout the year. Your child's teacher will be communicating testing dates with you.
Report Cards
Have You Moved?
Please notify the office if you have moved to a new address. It is important that we have the correct information for report card mailings and in case of an emergency.
Clothing Donations
If you have very gently used kids clothing items that your child has grown out of and you don't intend to use, we would be happy to take them. We are loaning out clothes to our students almost daily, and not all of them make it back to us. If you have items you would like to donate, please bring them in to the office.
