TVHS Junior Alli San Roman Speaks at Prestigious Neurological Disorders Summit
Alli San Roman, a junior at Temecula Valley High School, made waves at the 9th Neurological Disorders Summit (NDS-2024) in Barcelona, Spain on May 8, 2024. Despite her age, Alli was chosen to present her groundbreaking research on the Neurobiological Basis of Bioelectronic Medicine in Treating Pediatric ADHD and Autism, making her the only high school student to speak at the event.
The journey to this prestigious platform began for Alli during her sophomore year of high school when she applied to work with a professor at Cambridge University to research this topic. Her dedication and passion for understanding the neurological foundation of ADHD and Autism led her to submit her abstract to the NDS-2024 conference. Following a meticulous review process, she received the honor of being selected as one of the speakers for the event.
Alli's impressive achievement is a testament to her academic prowess and the depth of knowledge she has acquired through her rigorous STEM courses. Additionally, her voracious appetite for learning is evident in her dedication to reading over 200 papers on the subject and investing more than 80 hours into her research paper.
Reflecting on her educational journey, Alli acknowledges the pivotal role that Temecula Valley High School has played in shaping her academic trajectory. She credits her teachers, including Mr. Brannon, Mrs. Murphy, Mrs. Arango, and Mr. Turay, for inspiring and encouraging her both inside and outside the classroom. Their unwavering support and willingness to challenge her have been instrumental in her growth as a student and researcher.
Furthermore, Alli's involvement in initiatives like Unified Sports, alongside her friend Grace Barclay, has broadened her perspective and fueled her passion for making a difference in the world. This experience ultimately influenced her decision to focus her research on bioelectronic medicine for neurological disorders, emphasizing her commitment to helping others and advancing scientific understanding.
In anticipation of her presentation, Alli diligently prepared by practicing her speaking and communication skills. She planned meticulously by rehearsing and seeking feedback from peers, teachers, and family members to refine her delivery. For Alli, the opportunity to speak at the Neurological Disorders Summit was not only a validation of her hard work and dedication but also a source of immense pride and excitement, especially given her status as a junior. The chance to share her research on an international platform at such a young age is a testament to her exceptional abilities and serves as a stepping stone towards achieving her aspirations.
Looking ahead, Alli has high expectations for her future. She aims to attend a top-tier college and pursue a major in biology, with dreams of becoming a trauma surgeon or anesthesiologist. Her passion for science and desire to make a meaningful impact on the world drive her to continually seek out opportunities for growth and learning. This summer, she plans to attend the Yale Young Global Scholars program for two weeks, further enriching her knowledge and expanding her horizons.

🍽️From TVHS to Culinary Excellence: The Journey of TVUSD Alumni Ryan Johnston
Former Temecula Valley High School student Ryan Johnston's journey into the culinary world is a testament to the power of passion and dedication. Graduating from the esteemed Culinary Institute of America (CIA), Ryan's culinary prowess has taken him to exciting ventures, including an externship at the Snake River Sporting Club in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Ryan's culinary journey began with humble beginnings at TVHS, where he embarked on his culinary arts education in the CTE pathway. Little did he know that this initial spark would ignite a flame that would propel him further into the culinary industry.
During his time at the CIA, Ryan immersed himself in a world of culinary excellence. His externship at the Snake River Sporting Club provided him with invaluable hands-on experience, working in both the Garde Manger (cold food area) and broiler stations. The experience was so fulfilling that Ryan decided to return, drawn by the allure of a newly renovated kitchen and the opportunity to further refine his skills.
Reflecting on his time at the CIA, Ryan reminisces about his experiences at Caterina de Medici, an Italian restaurant helmed by Chef Odette Fada. His journey within the kitchen saw him mastering various stations, from the pasta and wood-fired oven pizza to eventually becoming a tournant. Each semester brought forth new challenges and opportunities for growth, with mentors guiding him along the way.
Ryan expresses gratitude for the foundational knowledge he acquired during his time at Temecula Valley High School. He credits his former Golden Bear instructors for igniting his passion for the culinary arts and setting him on the path to success. As Ryan continues to pursue excellence in the culinary world, his journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring chefs everywhere. From humble beginnings in Temecula to the prestigious halls of the CIA, Ryan Johnston's story is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and the transformative potential of education.
