Exploring Skokie
LIT: A Reader’s Journey: Students are compiling a detailed timeline/list of their journey as a reader, from early childhood to present day. The timeline includes reflections on different types of literature, the use of illustrations to tell a story, and the process of becoming an independent reader. Students are creating graphics to represent important scenes to highlight books on their list, as well as designing alternative book covers for their favorite books. This project will culminate with the potential for students to share as an interactive digital exhibit.
TCD: In Technology Communication Design students are focusing on visual communication and how graphic design elements including color, arrangement, and style of images can convey information. For example, students are combining images to create a representation of their name. Also, students are exploring a variety of effects with fonts including type, style, shadows, reflections, and how those changes/ can impact a message.

WINNETKA VOICES Season 2, Episode #5: Women in Leadership
Dr. Kelly Tess, Superintendent, is joined by three impactful women in our school community: Denise Dubravec, Winnetka Campus Principal/Assistant Superintendent at New Trier High School; Winnetka Public Schools alum Norah; and Marena Rudy, a Winnetka Public Schools Board Member. The women reflect on how they have been inspired and encouraged in order to lead with confidence. As Norah recognizes, “We have a lot of forward momentum.” We hope this episode serves as a glimpse into how we can support women and girls in their leadership ventures by modeling self-advocacy, curiosity and empathy.
