State Testing Starting Soon!
Dear Clyde W. Needham Families!
Our 3rd - 6th grade Needham Knights will soon begin working on their State Tests. Please talk to your children about the importance of eating healthy foods, getting good rest, and doing their very best on the tests!
We request that you make sure your child is here at CW Needham on all test days so that they can complete the test with their peers in class. If you need to schedule an appointment or a time to be away from school, please do so on a date that will not interfere with our testing schedule.
For more information on the State Tests, what they are, and how you can support your child during this testing season, please check out the CAASPP Starting Smarter website.

How can I help my child get ready for the test?
You are an important part of your child's education. Some things you can do to help your child are:
- Discuss the test with your child. Make sure they are not scared or anxious.
- Know the school calendar. Do not plan to take your child out of school during the days that the state test is being given.
- Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep and a nutritious breakfast before testing.
- Visit https://ca.startingsmarter.org/ for additional information about your child's score and to see sample test items.
Your child's teacher or principal is the best place to start if you have other questions about testing or available accessibility resources.

Have You Reported Your Students' Absence?
Don't forget to call if your child is out sick. If you do not call it will be an unexcused absence.
Picking Students Up
Please drive into the parking lot to pick up or drop off your child whenever possible
Please DO NOT cross the street on Pleasant Avenue in front of the school buildings or in front of the parking lot
Please DO NOT MAKE A U-Turn on Pleasant Avenue. For the safety of our students we request that you leave the area that you parked in the same direction that your car is facing when you parked.
Parents who walk up must wait in the designated area.
Students and parents that walk up to the parking lot from the south (Tokay St.) should enter the parking lot near the field and follow the sidewalk around the parking lot. This will keep students and adults from crossing traffic as it exits and enters the parking lot.
Students will not be allowed to exit the parking lot without a parent or guardian present unless they are walking home
