Falcon Flyer
Belong. Inspire. Grow.
Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families-- We have enjoyed a great week at Ridgeline. We want to let parents know that students are responding very positively to classroom expectations for cell phone use. It almost feels like the classroom environment has gone back in time. To a time where the addictive distraction of a cell phone wasn’t competing for our students attention and brain power. It’s quite fascinating. We’re definitely not out of the woods yet, and we know that it takes a concerted effort by all of us every day to maintain.
My photo today was sponsored by Mr. Paul and his 1st period science class! We have a little fun when I get my haz-mat suit on and deliver a “very dangerous” specimen to the classroom!
Outside of a little wild weather on Wednesday, we’ve also enjoyed many beautiful sunny days for our outdoor fall sports teams. This is the first fall season where we weren’t mandated to move practices indoor due to poor air quality. It has been a huge relief to have so few days in our region this fall with smoky conditions…and you’re thinking—you just jinxed us!
In today’s Flyer you can check out a really cool experience about 40 of our RHS students participated in for leadership development. A cool aspect of this event is we invited 40 students from CV High to participate as well. It was a real joy to watch them practice some new skills and connect with others through this powerful shared experience. Read more below!
You have to check out Jane, one of our outstanding performers, in a promo shot for our fall play, The Plot Like Gravy Thickens. I think she’s the “scorned ex-wife”, and she looks pretty intense! I know that she and the rest of the cast and crew are going to treat us to an amazing show! We’re still about six weeks away, but mark your calendar and keep an eye out for ticket sales about 2-3 weeks before opening night on November 13.
Next week is all about Homecoming! With daily activities and competitions, led by our fantastic ASB Leadership students. We have a big pep assembly for the school end of day on Monday. We’ll end the week with the homecoming football game vs CV, and honor the homecoming royalty. Wrap it all up on Saturday with the dance. Be there!
Ridgeline is hosting a special educational night for all of our Eastern Learning Community on October 09. In cooperation with East Region principals and staff members we will share information and resources to help support parents to feel empowered in navigating technology use with your kids. We hope to get a good crowd of interested parents who can participate and offer their insights and ideas for potential future topics and how we can partner in creating safer and less distracting conditions for our kids. (Want to be a part of the presentation? I am looking for 1-2 parents who would be interested in sharing a personal story of their own "perils, pitfalls, and successes" as a parent navigating their child's technology use. Looking for a parent who has lived through giving their child their first phone/device, and watched them grow through their teen years, and what you learned/discovered as a parent. Please call Molly Adams at 509-558-5808, to arrange a time to share your story with me. Thanks! ) Read the complete description below.
We have a home football game tonight vs Shadle Park. Should be great game. I heard it’s also mini-cheer night, which is code for “come early to get a better seat”!
You can enjoy a great Saturday night of music and entertainment right here at Ridgeline as we host the Spectacle of Sound! The Ridgeline Regiment will be joined by four other local marching bands. Our Regiment works extremely hard, putting in long hours of rehearsal. The Spectacle is not a competition event, more of a showcase. But I know how these kids and coaches think…everytime they are on the field, they perform at their highest level, they strive to be the best!
There are many more events for your calendar and information to help pass along to your own children to encourage them to get involved.
Be the smartest parent on the block… Read the Flyer!
Make it a great weekend! --Mr. Hardt

Leadership training by Envolve Schools
This week our Falcon student leaders teamed up with our friends and leaders from Central Valley high school for a training on Student Activities. Scott Backovich from Envolve has one goal, to help schools engage every student on campus through incredible activities. He challenged our leaders to think about the activities they plan for our students to participate in. The vast majority of traditional student activities have remained unchanged for the past 70 years. They learned about the importance of Positive Shared Experiences, Reverse Planning, Empathy Mapping, the Rule of 4, and the 5 Keys to a Successful Tradition. Student activities exist to create phenomenal communities within schools. The more students participate, the more successful they will become in school and life. It was a great day filled with laughing, conversations, learning, and reflection. Thank you to our ASB for sponsoring this awesome event.
Falcon Artists
Our art 1 students have been working with line and color to create some fun, abstract art pieces. Geraldine Probe, Reese Runyan, Evy Morlock, Cody Thornton, Eli Edgerly, Hali Lone, Danika Brant, and Emily Jordan are showing off their hard work. Great job Falcon artists!
