A belated Happy New Year to all our families, and best wishes to all those celebrating Chinese New Year this week!
I hope everyone has managed to find some quality time to rest and recharge over the school holidays, and that the children are feeling ready to dive in to the 2025 school year.
We're looking forward to welcoming everyone back next week, and to sharing upcoming key events and news for the year ahead. I'd like to take this opportunity to extend a particularly warm welcome to new families, students and staff joining the Mt Eden Normal school community this year - we're excited to have you with us in 2025, and hope you may be able to join us at 10am on Tuesday for our welcome whakatau.
As you'll be aware, we start the year with our usual 'Meet The Teacher' Parent Conferences on Monday (with classes getting underway the following day). If you have not yet booked your time for Monday's Conference, please make sure you do so today - see below for details and the required booking code.
A reminder that Week One is only a partial week - school is closed on Thursday 6th February for Waitangi Day, and remains closed on Friday 7th February also (adding the extra day at the end of the year). This will hopefully be an opportunity for some to enjoy a longer weekend where possible.
Behind the scenes, the team have been hard at work setting up classrooms, planning the term ahead and engaging in both team and Teacher Only Days in preparation for an exciting year ahead. I know how positive and enthused they are to get the ball rolling with their new classes and seeing the children back 'wide-eyed and enthusiastic about learning!'.
