Meet the Principal
Dear Miles ISD Community,
My name is Curt McKneely, and I am thrilled to share a bit about my journey and ongoing commitment to our school as we look toward another exciting year at Miles Elementary.
This marks my 16th year in the field of education, and 7th year as your principal. My career began as a rookie teacher in Miles during the 2009-2010 school year, where I taught 5th grade Math and Science. After four rewarding years, I pursued an opportunity in San Angelo ISD, teaching 5th grade science at Glenmore Elementary. Over five years, I immersed myself in teaching, learning, and growing within the district. My path then led me to roles as an Instructional Coach and eventually as an Assistant Principal at Fannin Elementary.
The call to return to Miles as the Elementary Principal was an opportunity I could not pass up. Since then, I have cherished every moment back at Miles ISD. We have the best families, students, and teachers—a community that continuously achieves excellence, maintaining an A rating throughout my time here. Our achievements include the introduction of STEM classes, the development of a language learning lab, an intervention program, and the implementation of a robust guided reading and phonics program. Miles Elementary is more than just a place of learning; it truly is a family.
On a personal note, I am happily entering my third year of marriage, with the exciting addition of a baby boy expected this November. My wife and I have recently bought a house here, cementing our commitment to this wonderful community we call home. We are both excited about what the future holds.
Thank you for the privilege of serving as your children’s principal for the past six years. I look forward to many more years of growth, achievement, and community spirit here at Miles Elementary.
Warm regards,
Mr. McKneely
Principal, Miles Elementary
