January/February 2024
Parent-Teacher Conferences
GJH will hold parent-teacher conferences on Monday, February 12 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. These conferences will be by appointment only.
Teachers will reach out to parents with whom they need to meet. If you would like to meet with your child's teachers and do not hear from them by February 2nd, you may call the school to schedule an appointment.
Important Information for 8th Grade Parents
On January 11th during Homeroom, eighth grade students selected the high school elective classes they would like to take during their 9th grade year at Goshen High School. These elective worksheets were sent home for parent review and approval.
**Your eighth grade student should have brought this form home.. If you have not seen your student's form yet, please follow up with them.
These forms were due back with parent signature to GJHS by Friday, January 19, 2024. Please check with your child, and if s/he has not turned their form in yet, make sure they do that as soon as possible.
Upcoming dates to be aware of:
- The GHS school counselors will return to GJHS on February 15 & 16 to finalize all course selections for the freshman/ninth grade year.
- A Goshen High School Preview event for 8th grade students and their parents will be held on Thursday, March 21 at 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the high school.
Students who have questions should speak with Mrs. Christoffersen or Mrs. Desmarais-Morse, GJH school counselors.
Thank you for your assistance in planning a strong start for your child's high school career!
After-School Events
Also, please make sure you have a plan for your child to be picked up within10 minutes of the end of the event. Students should be aware of ride arrangements prior to attending events.
Staff members running these events have other responsibilities and families waiting at home for them, and we appreciate your help with this. Students who are consistently picked up late from events may be asked not to attend these events anymore.

The Nest
Mrs. Potter works with students in the NEST classroom. NEST stands for "Needing Extra Support Today.
Mrs. Potter shares, "In the NEST classroom, we process our behaviors together. Once we make things right with our behaviors, we get right back to being scholars. We track all of our assignments on a student-created chart. A student's number one job at school is to be a learner. When behaviors get in the way, we have to take some time to process our actions and think about the effect on ourselves, our classmates, and our teachers. In the NEST classroom, we learn how to make things right after making poor choices, while staying in an education setting and keeping on track with our academics. While we take time to discuss our behavioral goals and the importance of giving back to our community, our main focus is on learning.
Dress Code
Our goal is to help students understand and evaluate appropriate settings for formal vs. informal attire, which is a skill they will use in the world beyond school. Students will see this addressed starting on the first day of school.
We appreciate parents working with us on this. If you have questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact an administrator.
