🏫 A Note from your Administration 🏫
Hello, Husmann Parents & Guardians!
Our annual Parent Night is this Thursday, September 12th! We offer two identical sessions so that we can accommodate all of our parents/guardians, and the blacktop will be open for parking. The session times are 6:00-6:40pm (A-L) & 6:50-7:30pm (M-Z).
On Parent Night, the content covered will be centered around grade level curriculum, ways to support your learners at home and the importance of the home-school partnership. Items such as classroom procedures, expectations, homework, PBIS, grading practices and general Husmann procedures will also be a part of each presentation.
Should you not be able to attend a certain session due to having another child at Husmann, or whatever reason, please feel free to attend the other session. Our hope is that we can reach as many parents/guardians as possible. By attending Parent Night, we are confident that we can start to lay a foundation for a strong home-school partnership.
Since this is a night designated for parents/guardians, we ask that your children remain at home. Should you have any additional questions in advance, please reach out to your child's teacher or the main office.
We are looking forward to seeing you on Thursday night!
Your Partners in Education,
Mr. Sromek, Principal & Ms. Fitzgerald, Assistant Principal

💛💜 Get Your Students' FREE Husmann Hustle T-Shirt! 💜💛
All of our Husmann Cougars get a free sheet for the Husmann Hustle. In order to ensure the proper sizing, please register your student (FOR FREE) by Thursday, September 12th! As mentioned, registration is absolutely free. You can register here: 2024 Husmann Hustle. Type in your student’s first and last name in the “Search for Participant” box, if the name doesn’t pop up, scroll to the bottom where it says “add participant”.
🚌 Dismissal Changes 🚌
In order to safely coordinate the dismissal of all of our students, we ask that you inform the main office of any and all changes for your child. We will work with the teachers to make sure that all students go to the proper location. However, in order to manage this in the best way possible, we will NOT be accepting ANY dismissal changes after 3pm. We appreciate your partnership in keeping all of our kiddos accounted for.
📐 Bridges Math Program 📐
We are very excited to share that teachers and students will be using a new math curriculum this school year called Bridges in Mathematics.
Parent Welcome Letters for each grade level are linked below.
- Kindergarten
- 1st Grade
- 2nd Grade
- 3rd Grade
- 4th Grade
- 5th grade
- Classroom teachers will be sharing Unit Parent Letters at the beginning of each unit. This will provide an overview of skills your child will be working on in class.
Home Connections pages for home practice (homework pages) will be sent home based on the recommendations made by Math Learning Center. During nights when students are not assigned a Home Connections sheet, we would encourage parents to engage in fostering a “Growth Mindset” approach to math along with reflective conversations with their child about what they are learning. If your child loves to engage in math activities at home, we have also included some resources parents can utilize from the website
📚 Goal Setting Together!! 📚
This year, try having your children set goals with you!
It could be to...
- read more as a family.
- learn about something new.
- sign up for the local library.
- do a book club together.
- have a family reading night.
- have a bedtime reading routine.
Then find a way to measure their goals, either on a calendar or a sticker chart. Through setting and achieving their goals your children may find a passion and curiosity for reading and learning about something they never would have thought before.
Reading Tips for Parents:
If you notice your child is getting less excited about reading, try having them explore a topic they are interested in and want to learn more about. Create a project with them to drive their interest in learning. Go to the library together and complete research about the topic and ask questions to keep them curious.
Another way you can expand your child’s interest in reading is by exploring different types of genres. Maybe they are always reading Nonfiction or Realistic Fiction, instead, have them try Historical Fiction or Biographies. You could even create a family goal to try a different genre a month!
🍎 Reporting Student Absences via ParentVue 🍎
If a child will be absent from or late to school, parents/guardians must log into ParentVue to report the absence before the start of the school day -- by 8:50 a.m. Please select the appropriate reason. "Other " can be used for mental health days, appointments, family emergencies, etc. You MUST put a reason in the notes section when using this option or you will receive a robocall. Click here for more information.
📞 Husmann Student Directory 📞
Sign-up now for this year's Student Directory! The directory is a great way to set-up hang-outs, playdates, send invites for birthday parties, and more. The directory is optional and only shared with parents or guardians who choose to add their contact information: Student Directory
