Jim Mangan selected as May Street Elementary School principal
Hood River County School District (HRCSD) is pleased to announce Jim Mangan's appointment as the new May Street Elementary School principal. With more than 30 years of dedicated experience in public education, including 14 years as a school administrator, Mangan brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong vision for student success to his new role.
Mangan's qualifications as a visionary and motivational leader are evident in his commitment to building equitable communities that promote collaboration and high achievement for all learners. With a background in student-centered instructional leadership, creative problem-solving, and excellent student management skills, he has a proven record of improving student outcomes while effectively collaborating with students, parents, staff, and administration.
His professional experience includes serving as principal at Forest Hills Elementary School in Lake Oswego, vice principal at Mid Valley Elementary School in Hood River County, and principal at Trillium Creek Primary School in West Linn. Mangan has also held leadership positions at Lynch View Elementary School in Portland and McBride Elementary School in St. Helens.
Mangan's teaching career spans 21 years, during which he taught various grades and served as a learning specialist in school districts across Oregon and Wisconsin. He holds a Master of Education in administration from Lewis and Clark College and a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from the University of Oregon.

"Quality instruction and equity are at the heart of my educational philosophy, and I look forward to working collaboratively with staff, students, and families to ensure every student reaches their full potential."
Mangan's diverse experience has given him a unique perspective on education. He emphasizes the importance of shared leadership, communication, and inclusivity. He is dedicated to creating a supportive learning environment where all voices are valued and included in decision-making.
Superintendent Bill Newton said he is confident that Jim Mangan's passion for learning, collaborative spirit, and equity commitment will positively impact the school community.
