Nurse
Meet Ms. Bosen coming to us from Holyoke Community College in Massachusetts
- I am a Registered Nurse and working on my BSN at UMASS Boston.
- I have 5 children and for the past 20 years I have been busy fixing up scratches, aches, stomach bugs, boken bones, and given lots of love and attention.
- I am excited to bring my professional and personal experience to care for the children at Murray.
School Attendance is Important!
Why?
Academic Achievement: Attending School regularly allows your child to fully participate in classroom activities, engage with teachers and peers, and stay up to date with their learning.
Skill Development: Beyond academic learning, school is a place where children develop critical life skills such as communication, teamwork, problem solving, and time management.
Well-Being: Regular school attendance helps children build strong relationships with peers and teachers, fostering a sense of belonging.
Positive Technology Behaviors & Reminders
Online Safety:
- Talk with your child about what they’re doing online and how they can stay safe.
- Have conversations about ways to be respectful and kind in online spaces.
- Encourage your child to share when they witness unsafe or unkind behavior online.
ACPS provides technology to support your child’s learning. While having technology is an important part of education and can be fun, it is also a privilege. We encourage you to have conversations with your child about what is appropriate to do with an ACPS-owned device.
Other Resources:
- Digital Citizenship Field Guide for Families (Spanish) – Learn more about your child’s ACPS laptop and ways to support your child with using technology in a healthy way at home.
- VPN FAQs for Administrators and Families – If you suspect your child may be attempting to bypass our web filter, this FAQ document may help.
- ACPS Acceptable Use Policy – This policy guides what is and isn’t appropriate to do with an ACPS device. We are currently revising this policy; please stay tuned for an updated version this fall.
School Safety
We will conduct emergency drills so that we can continue to identify the appropriate methods for preventing, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from any crises that may occur to keep our students safe. We will conduct fire, lockdown or evacuate, tornado, earthquake, secure the building, shelter in place, and bus evacuations practice drills.
Meet Your Teacher

Virginia L. Murray Elementary School, Morgantown Road, Charlottesville, VA, USA
Listening Conferences
A listening conference is an opportunity for parents or caretakers to meet with the teacher and share background on your child's experiences that you feel would be beneficial for the teacher to know. The parent or caretaker does most or all of the talking and the teacher listens while taking notes. The information gained is used to develop a strong relationship with your child and to build a strong classroom community. Please look for more information from your child's teacher on scheduling your listening conference.
