The East End campuses are looking forward to celebrating Veteran's Day on Monday, November 11. There will be a Veteran's Day breakfast at 8:30am at East End Middle School. Our annual Veterans Day Drive Through Parade will follow breakfast, starting at 9:10am at EEM traveling to EEE and ending at EEI. Please see the flyer for more information.
ATLAS Fall Interim Testing Dates
Students will take an INTERIM standardized assessment in Science & Writing on the following dates:
November 12-14: All students will test Science in their Science classes.
November 19: All students will test Writing in their JacketTime classes.
This test gives us another data point on how your child is progressing on grade-level standards. Please avoid scheduling appointments on these days. Please make sure your child gets a good night sleep the night before, and, as always, encourage them to do their best on the test!

HOW CAN I SEE MY CHILD'S SCORES ON ATLAS?
The ATLAS Portal gives parents easier access to student testing data. Each parent was sent a 6-digit code via the email on file at the school district. A parent can then use the code to log in to the ATLAS Parent Portal to see student data for screeners, interims, and summative assessments. If you did NOT receive the 6-digit code via email, please contact East End Middle front office or email Mr. Westfall at alanwestfall@sheridanschools.org.

When you enter the ATLAS Family Portal you will see the screenshot below. If you would like more information on your child's end-of-the-year ATLAS Summative Assessment, click on the "Download Detailed Report" and you will get a PDF version of each content area with a detailed explanation of the score. The information even breaks each content area down into sections and gives options for parents to help students in a "Next Steps" section.

Shoutouts
Congratulations to the following students who received positive office referrals this past week. We are so proud of our students for showing BOSS behavior.
Congratulations to Emmett Goodwin, Jeremias Caballero, and Ellie McGinley who participated in All Region Choir Clinic last week. These students were selected to work with other top choir students from around the region. We are so proud of their hard work!
Students in Mrs. DePriest's Advanced Art class went on a field trip last week to the Arkansas Arts Museum in Little Rock. Students did an excellent job and received the following compliment from the museum, "I am one of the docents who led a tour of your 8th grade art students today at Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts. I wanted you to know they were the best group of students I’ve been with in two years as a docent. Bright, engaged, imaginative, well behaved. Their teacher Laura Depriest was likewise engaged and imaginative and it was obvious her students looked up to and molded themselves after her. Congratulations to your school for such fine students and ambassadors. I hope you pass this along to others who will want to know."
Congratulations to the EEM Chess Team! They competed in a Chess Competition on Friday. Our students placed 1st overall. Nathanyal Taylor and Wyatt Dowler tied for individual 1st place and we had multiple students tied for 2nd place! Great job, Chess Team!
Our EEM Robotics team competed in their 1st tournament this weekend! Two of the teams won the Teamwork Award, and one team won the Design Award!

How Do I Check My Child's Grades?
All grades can be accessed on Home Access Center (HAC): http://hac23.esp.k12.ar.us. HAC Parent Access Codes were sent home last week, which will allow all parents to login to view their child's grades. If you have any questions or do not receive your parent letter, please contact Dr. Williams at heatherwilliams@sheridanschools.org. Thank you!
Character Word for November
During the month of November, students at EEM will learn all about TEAMWORK.
What is Teamwork?
Teamwork is the ability to work in unity with others towards a common goal. For us to learn how to become team players, it is important that we learn to listen, encourage our peers, and allow and invite others to contribute their talents and skills.
Why focus on Teamwork?
- Teamwork improves communication: Teamwork helps us improve our verbal and non-verbal communication skills, conveying that we care and a relevant message.
- Teamwork builds interpersonal awareness: Growing a great team requires us to first build strong relationships through a better understanding of ourselves and others.
- Teamwork celebrates diversity. Teamwork thrives from diverse ideas that come from a mixture of different genders, cultures, expertise, experience, and problem-solving approaches.
Teamwork in Action:
- Call them a team, not a class or group. A group consists of many different people. A team, however, has a common purpose and a shared responsibility for success.
- Require teams to set expectations for and manage their own behavior. Do not tell teams what type of behavior is expected—let them decide for themselves with a Social Contract.
- Teach and encourage affirmations. Giving affirmations helps connect the team, builds trust, promotes engagement, and boosts a positive culture.

Nurse's Corner
Holiday season is upon us, but we must stay diligent about our students’ health and safety. Hearing and Vision screens will continue into November. Students still need to be up to date on their immunizations or provide an exemption letter– thank you to the parents who have contacted me.
The Reminders:
If your child needs a check-up, immunizations, or is sick our Jacket Health and Wellness Clinic is convenient and quick. For more information click the link Jacket Health or call (870) 484-4411 to set up an appointment..
If students wear glasses they must have their glasses on for the Vision screening or they will not be screened.
As we head into the holidays, please be mindful when buying candy or snacks for the school that the Sheridan School District is a peanut/tree nut free district. Please do not send or allow your child to bring food items into the school that contain peanuts, peanut products, or tree nuts. This information will be found on the label under ingredients. Due to continual changes in manufacturer packaging and processing, please read the ingredient label to ensure that it does not contain any of the following: peanuts/ nuts, peanut/nut butter, peanut/nut oil, peanut/nut flour, peanut/nut meal, or any of the statements “may contain traces of peanut/nuts.” (M&M’s, Butterfinger).
If your child has a health condition, please inform the school nurse. We want to keep all our students safe and make sure they are receiving proper care while at school.
Please keep your child at home if they have a fever, vomiting, or have diarrhea. Students must be 24 hrs without fever or symptoms in order to return to school. Please also let attendance or the school nurse know.
Thank you and feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
