Dear Parents/Carers,

This week we welcomed the Totally Runable Team into school to meet with our GALS (Girls Active Leadership Squad) for the first time. The girls accessed a workshop exploring the inequality between men and women in sports. They must complete a project and present this in the Summer Term to an audience. This workshop will allow them to start to think of their project focus.

Last week, Ms Honeyman Smith held an assembly about the Big School Birdwatch which the RSPB are running over the next few weeks. The RSPB are encouraging people to take part in the Big Garden Birdwatch over the weekend of the 24th - 26th January and we would really like the children to get involved.

If you would like your children to take part, more information can be found on the website Big Garden Birdwatch. We would love to receive any of your wildlife photography of birds in your gardens or around the local area to add to the television screen in our entrance area. Please send in any pictures of birds into the admin inbox.

On Friday, a group of our pupils went to the Young Voices Concert at Sheffield Arena. The pupils have spent all term learning songs to sing with the largest choir in the world! This is an extraordinary experience for our pupils where they are able to play a part in a huge production and see professional singers, musicians and dancers at their best. The feedback that we have had from parents is that this is ‘a must’ for any pupil to experience and this year’s was even greater than ever. If your child is in Key Stage Two and you would like them to take part next year, we will be starting the after-school club again in the Autumn Term.

Franc SG (EYFS) – For making outstanding progress in his phonics and securing recognition of his first 26 sounds. Franc has also made excellent progress in letter formation since September. Well done Franc!

Jaxon W (Year 3) – For his exceptional work in Science this week where he could readily talk all aspects of his learning about Forces. Jaxon has also recently been awarded a handwriting pen! Well done Jaxon!

We have had a fantastic uptake for Parents Evening, if you haven't already made an appointment please do remember to sign up for a slot. If you have any areas of your child’s learning that you would like to discuss outside of the parents evening, or if following parents evening you would like a follow up appointment, please make arrangements to see the class teacher directly who will be happy to help.
