Note from the Director
Hello everyone!
I hope you are enjoying this cooler weather and that all the students are having a great start to the new school year. As you will see in the photos below, we are in the final stage of getting the elevator functioning again. We are scheduling the state inspector to be here next week, and hope we pass inspection with flying colors!
In other news, have you heard about the Community Book Read? All six libraries in our two-county system are giving away copies of To Kill a Mockingbird in anticipation of book discussions led by guest facilitators on different dates at each library. Read on for more information, and hopefully you can attend one or more of the discussions.
We are celebrating National Voter Registration Day on September 17th. Paper registration forms are always available at the library desk. If you have recently moved, changed your name, or know a teenager who will turn 18 before November 5th, we're happy to help you!
All my best,
Christina Danos

These will serve to direct the public, inform them about the space, and give credit to our wonderful Friends of the Library volunteers who keep our garden beautiful.
Ongoing Library Programs:
Science + Philosophy Discussion Groups
Join us Wednesdays at 12:30 PM for Iris Murdoch's The Sovereignty of Good," arguing that the pursuit of goodness transcends personal choice and carries inherent authority and value, a powerful counterpoint to the dominant moral theories of her time, championing the idea that a virtuous life is grounded in an unselfish and loving orientation toward the Good.
Thursdays at 12:30 PM we are reading The Stranger by Albert Camus, delving into the absurdity of existence through the detached, indifferent life of Meursault. As he faces the consequences of his actions, the story challenges our understanding of meaning, morality, and the human condition.

The Left Hand of Darkness will be discussed on Friday, October 4th at 10:30am.
