Sports Announcements
Last week AAE was recognized by the CIAC for the Michael Jewelers Award for the impeccable sportsmanship and community service. Additionally AAE won the Fred Balsalmo Award. Uconn and Gold Medalist Kara Wolters. Our very own Davinci Prado spoke at a panel to talk about the initiaves at the event. Also, Pehansa Samarkroon participated with setting up the event and being a great manager for the CIAC.
HS Sports News:
AAE has been awarded The Michael Jewelers cup award along with the other CREC schools from the CIAC. There will be a ceremony and lunch on Monday 10/7 at the Aqua Turf in Southington. Our very own Davinci Prado will be speaking at this event and has been a very active member of our high school community.
Some Friendly Reminders: Please remember that we have a shortage of officials, so we may not agree with all their calls, they are there to make our games happen. Let's root for AAE and let the officials do their jobs. Also rooting for AAE does not mean rooting against our opponent.
There are no suburban buses for games. Also note if we are playing another Crec School the Hartford bus will run from that site. For example, if a game is at ASI, the Hartford bus leaves from there.
Buses leave promptly at 2:15 to offsite sports competitions
It is important we clean up our snack after receiving one from Mr. Copeland and we must not wear cleats in the cafeteria.
As we approach the end of the season; please return uniforms 3 days after the last competition. Any missing uniforms will impact eligibility for the next season and beyond.

Art Update
Art students are hard at work learning new techniques and practicing seeing from different perspectives. 6th graders just completed a Superhero storyboard unit and did a fantastic job creating new characters and plots. 7th graders completed a one-point perspective refresher with watercolor paint while 8th grade completed their first acrylic painting unit. Great work Encore kids!
6th graders will be taking a field trip to the New Britain Museum of American Art on Friday, November 1st. Please ensure your student's permission slip is recorded on PowerSchool no later than 10/17 before the submission window closes. Please call the main office if you are experiencing difficulty in the completion. Thanks....Ms.O
Counselor's Corner
Middle School
We are excited to build a strong, comprehensive middle school, school counseling program. We know that the middle school years can be difficult, but also a time of unprecedented growth and excitement. As school counselors, we work with all students and their families to help navigate this time. Your child will often see us in the classroom leading lessons, checking in with them or their friends, or in the hallway and cafeteria to say hi. We cover topics like conflict resolution, advocating for self and others, goal setting, college and career aspirations, time management, organization, in short many of the skills that aren’t a discrete skill for a job, but necessary to get the job done! We also are a great resource for you and your child if they are struggling academically or with a teacher and if they have concerns about themselves or their friends.
In the meantime, as you and your child get back into the routine of school please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or concerns. While we are rarely in our office (we like to be where your kids are!) we will always get back to you in a timely fashion. The best way to ensure this is to email us. Even if you’d like a phone call, email us with some times you’re available and we’ll do our best to not to play phone tag with you.

Note from our School Nurses
Good afternoon parents,
The SNAP health portal is a communication platform that allows for sharing information with your child's school nurse as well as the ability to have access to your child's health information.
If you would like your child to receive Tylenol and Motrin while at school, this portal allows parents to give written permission to the school nurse.
Attached are instructions of how to create your account.
Thank you.
