CITY OF RALEIGH EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
My name is Kiara Hairston and I am a School-Based Programs Manager for the City of Raleigh's Youth Programs Division. I am reaching out in hopes to build relationships with surrounding schools near our program sites. So that we may connect with students to provide them with an opportunity of employment during after school hours. Our Program hours are Monday – Friday 2:45/3:30 pm - 6:30 pm. The only requirement for this position is that students must be 16 yrs. or older. If this is something that you could help me with(by advertising to your students in the future weeks) I would greatly appreciate it. I know that we are approaching the new school year, but I would love to come out during lunch to talk with students who may be interested in working after school or attending any college/job fairs that you are offering to your students.
Below I have included a job link that can be shared with students:

COVID MISCONCEPTIONS - BY ERIKA CHAN
WHERE ARE FORMER HSCA STUDENTS TODAY?
Eman Barakat, a former student from the HSCA Class of 2020
Just a little update of what I have accomplished since Athens so you can visualize the impact you have on students, particularly me ;).
In June of 2020, I took the EMT certification exam knowing that I would start working in Covid. Thankfully I passed! Immediately after I applied to Johnson County EMS. Next thing you know, there was a severe outbreak and I feared for my family's health (at this time there was very little information about Covid). So I began searching for jobs that would be in a controlled setting. Luckly, I found a school that was hiring for a Medical Assistant to create Covid guidelines and procedures to keep staff and students safe from Covid within the school and to aid during medical emergencies (ill or injured). I realized that this would be a great opportunity because I could control my setting and surroundings, use my knowledge to help others, and apply my medical skills to aid those who are in need.
NCSU started and so did the school year; but work was great! Throughout the entire year, we only had five positive cases and they never entered campus due to our screenings; therefore, there was never an outbreak within the school that created clustered or spread Covid. And we had 95% of the staff fully vaccinated by April. The community was impressed by the great outcomes of our protocols and procedures, which led to my local mosque offering me a job to be a team member within the Covid Task Force. It was a team who also created additional guidelines for the mosque while still following Wake County Health Department and CDC guidelines. This team was basically the extra layer of support to ensure that the members within the muslim community/mosque are in safe hands when coming to the mosque. From there I was introduced to many Doctors and other health care professionals.
Although I was a full time student, I still managed a full time job that enhanced my medical knowledge and understanding of medical research. I enjoy my job(s) and the medical profession due to the experiences opportunities I had at Athens, so thank you again.
Eman plans to attend Physician Assistant School, upon graduating from NCSU.
