After Spring Break we will begin phasing out of the SMORE newsletter to start using Parent Square. During this time you will receive newsletters from SMORE and Parent Square. Starting in May, SMORE will no longer be used.

April 16th: 6,7, 8, and 11 Math (DEC @ 8:00am-10:00am)

April 17th: 8, 10 Science (DEC @ 8:00am-10:00am)

If you wish to NOT have your student participate in the testing an Opt out Form must be completed and turned in to their advisory teacher.

Welcome to the Summer STEM Success Academy program. This is a program for District 191 students currently enrolled in 8th grade and interested in earning high school credit for English Language Arts and Community Service Learning. Participation is voluntary and free. We invite you to take this opportunity to enroll your child before classes are at capacity. Dates: July 7 - July 31, Monday through Thursday. * Field Trip 7/31 required

Daily class hours: 8:30 am - 12:30 pm (program hours only, does not include transportation time)

Location: Burnsville High School, 600 E. Highway 13, Burnsville, MN 55337

Daily Activities: Students will receive daily instruction in the areas of STEM, Student Success

Strategies, and Service Learning Leadership.

Transportation: School buses will pick up and drop off students living within ISD 191 district

boundaries only. Students living within 1 mile of BHS are within walking distance and no transportation is provided. Students living more than 1 mile away from BHS will have the option to select busing. Bus stops may not be the same as the school year.

Registration Deadline: Friday, May 23, 2025

• Enrollment forms received after the deadline will be placed on the waiting list and enrolled only if space is available.

2024 8th Grade Summer STEM Success Academy Registration Form

• Once a registration form is submitted, an email is automatically generated and sent to the email address provided. This email confirms that you have successfully submitted the registration form, not that your student has been accepted.

Confirmation:

• Students that are accepted to the program will receive a confirmation email that will be sent during the week of June 17 - 21. *Waitlisted students will only receive confirmation if space becomes available.

• Bus information, including bus stops and estimated pick-up and drop-off times, will be sent separately by email.

Only students sent confirmation of enrollment may attend the program.

Hours Submission for Youth Service Awards DUE!!

In order to be acknowledged for your hours of service for both the InnerView awards and the Presidential Youth Service Awards, you must have your hours completed, submitted, and confirmed by midnight on Tuesday April 15th. As a reminder, in order to obtain the Presidential Service Award, you must have at least 100 hours of volunteer service from June 1, 2024 to April 15th, 2025. Tutoring Center Now Open! Seeking tutors for the tutoring center on MONDAYS and or WEDNESDAYS from 2:40-3:20.

Spring Clean Up On Tuesday April 22nd 2:40-3:20p, YSAC will be sponsoring our annual Spring Clean Up Event on the BHS Campus in honor of our National Earth Day. Students will meet at door 18 in the E commons. Volunteers will be provided with garbage bags and gloves. This is a great event to earn 4 hours of volunteer service. Use the link to sign up today!

BrainPower in a BackPack in Main Cafeteria After School

The Free Book Buggie. Each Saturday will be the Free Book Buggie book sort event from 10a-12p. This event asks volunteers to count book donations, sort donated books by reading level and category, and load books into buggy for upcoming events. *Free T-Shirt available in Ms. Jackson Floback’s office
