Jaguar Tracks
January 24th
Dear Jaguars,
On Thursday we decided to elicit even more school spirit in tandem with our Jaguar Pride day through a school wide Rock, Paper, Scissors championship game. Had you walked through the hallways one would find large groups of students cheering on staff in games. Our students enjoyed sharing tips and strategies with their teachers. Congratulations to Kerry Mullen for winning the school wide competition!
On Thursday, our third, fourth and fifth graders did a wonderful job at the spelling bee! They demonstrated perseverance, teamwork and sportsmanship. A huge thank you to Jaime Quinn and the many staff members who supported in organizing and volunteering at this event.
This is a reminder that the parking lot is not to be used for arrival in the morning to ensure student safety as many students walk to school and cut through the parking lot. If you need to drop your student off, you can park along Oak Street. Thank you for your cooperation.
Cold Weather Reminders (the next few weeks are looking chilly!!):
- We may institute weather flag days in the morning if the wind-chill is high – stay on the lookout for staff guiding students into the building at the doors at 8:10 if that is the case. All students are welcome to come in the Oak Street door (including students whose class is located in the modular) on weather flag arrival days. (We will be inside if it is raining, snowing or the temperature is below 20 degrees.)
- Winter Outerwear: It is getting colder! Please send your child in with coats and gloves for outdoor recess. On snowy days, students are welcome to bring in snow pants and boots to use at recess. These items are needed if children want to play on the snow. Otherwise, they can find activities on the hardtop. PLEASE make sure to label ALL clothing with your child's name.
Happy New Year,
Caitlin Shelburne
PLEASE JOIN US FOR BREAKFAST!!
All students are welcome to enjoy free breakfast in morning before the school day begins!
- First through Fifth Grade: If your child would like breakfast, please drop your child off at the Oak Street Door at 8:10 and they can come right in to have a light breakfast in our cafeteria before they start their day. As with lunch, allergy spaces will be designated. If students would like to play outside in the morning before 8:10, they can walk on the sidewalk around the building to the Oak Street door for breakfast.
- Kindergarten: If your child would like breakfast, it will be brought to them in their classrooms after they settle in for their day. To support, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher to confirm that your child will be eating breakfast.
Follow us on Instagram at "JE_Jaguars": We have so many wonderful pictures and videos of learning in action and those small moments that make our days! This gives a nice window into the day in the life of a Jaguar!

5th Grade Yearbook Photos Needed!
Attention 5th Grade Caregivers! Yearbook Photo Collection - IMPORTANT!!
It's hard to believe our little Jaguars are graduating this Spring. We are collecting photos of our fifth graders for their yearbook, and we need your help! We want to be sure every student is represented, so we are asking you to share your pictures.
Think first days of school, last days of school, 2nd grade wax museum, spelling bee, field trips and field days, holiday parties, Halloween Howl, etc.
Please only share pics that were taken at JE or on a school field trip.
For the end of Kindergarten and 1st grade, if you have a picture of your student doing school work from home, you may submit, but please be sure only your 5th grader is pictured.
Send your photos to our Yearbook Gmail account: jejaguars25@gmail.com.
Save your pictures with file name: First Name, Last Initial, number of grade pic is from. Example: DeaconB2 for a picture of Deacon Berg in 2nd Grade.
For pictures that have more than one student, name it with your child's name or name of primary student in the photo.
You may attach multiple pictures to your email.
BABY PICTURES: If you would like your child represented in the baby picture section of the yearbook, please also submit a baby picture of your child. Please note, this is optional.
NEW TO JE AFTER KINDERGARTEN: Finally, if your child was not at JE for Kindergarten, please submit their K school pic or a picture of them taken in Kindergarten (no need to submit if they were at JE for K).
PLEASE SUBMIT PICTURES BY 1/31!
If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to us at jejaguars25@gmail.com and a member of the Yearbook Committee will respond within a few days.
Thank you for your help. We can't wait to see and share all the cute pictures!
The 5th Grade Yearbook Committee,
Lindsey Baker, Melissa Berg, Julia Bonarrigo, Ashley Graham
As flu and covid season is now upon us, I wanted to remind you of the guidelines for returning to school/work after a respiratory infection such as flu or covid.
You should stay home until symptoms have been improving for 24 hours and be fever free without use of fever reducing medications for 24 hours before returning.
Precautions such as masking are a good idea for 5 days after returning. See here for more information about the flu and other respiratory illnesses.
Just a reminder, all students should have a back up set of clothing at school. Children may need to change for a number of reasons, (playground muddiness, spilled liquids, etc). Please make sure that the clothes that your child has right now are seasonally appropriate. I have a limited amount of back up clothing in the nurse’s office, so this would be a great help.
Thanks!
