ASA G. HILLIARD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
I have never encountered any children in any group who are not geniuses. There is no mystery on how to teach them. The first thing you do is treat them like human beings and the second thing you do is love them. -Asa Hilliard
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
HI PANTHER FAMILIES ❤️
I hope that your week has started off well and you have been enjoying this beautiful weather these past few days! As we approach our spring months, please know that we will continue to hold to high quality instruction for our students and effective daily classroom routines. The spring time brings about testing, celebrations and the anticipation of a spring break. As our partners, please continue to push your children to give 110% each and every day. We want to ensure that every child is prepared for end of year assessments and these last few months we encourage you to bring your scholar to school everyday. As a reminder, every child has 5 remote learning days each semester so please give us a call if you need to utilize them.
Also, we continue working towards mastery and doing so in a joyful environment through our school BINGO games. Many of you ask how you can help our school and one of those ways is to have your child to complete reading and math lessons at home. This week, you can have your child to log onto Khan Academy to complete lessons on addition/subtraction and fractions in math and describing characters in reading. As always, we are here to support each of you so do not hesitate to reach out. Take care!

District Perception Survey-Please Complete
Dear Parent/Guardian,
At Fulton County Schools, we truly value the feedback from our parents about their experiences with the district. That is why I encourage all parents to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey. This survey allows parents the opportunity to tell us what they think about their student’s schools and the district. While we always make it a priority to listen to our parents, this survey affords us another opportunity to receive your thoughts and opinions.
The survey is anonymous and confidential. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. The survey will remain open from Monday, February 12 through Friday, March 15. To access the parent survey, click https://www.fultonschools.org/annualparentsurvey or scan the link below with a smartphone. Thank you in advance for making your voice heard!

Volunteers Needed...Career Day
Greetings Panther Families,
It is that time of year again, Career Day is rapidly approaching, and we are looking for volunteers to talk to our students about their career. This is a fantastic way to provide them with firsthand knowledge of potential career paths. You will have an opportunity to get involved at AGHES and to make an impact on our students. We will have two different opportunities for you to present; either in the classroom OR if your career involves a vehicle you can present in our Careers on Wheels Car Show. If you are not interested but know someone who is, please give them (or us) the necessary contact information. The 2024 Asa G. Hilliard Elementary Career Day is Friday, March 15th from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm. You can sign up directly using the RSVP below. Please contact Ms. Black at 470-254-9731 or 678-294-4403 with any questions or concerns.

Sessions start September 30th from 10 am-12 pm, If interested you can click on English or Spanish and complete the enrollment forms.”
Literacy Parent Units
As you know, parent involvement is vital to your child’s academic success, which is why I am so excited to introduce a new learning tool to help enhance what is being taught in the classroom. Over the course of the school year, we will be unveiling a series of parent units for you to complete so you are better able to help support early literacy development at home.
These self-paced experiences, called Parent Units, are no more than 20 minutes from start to finish to complete. In the units, an easy-to-replicate strategy is provided for you to use at home. Each Parent Unit will launch monthly one at a time and will focus on different topics. We are kicking off the series with Unit 1 focusing on Oral Language.
I encourage you to take the time to complete these fun learning units, which can be found at the bottom of our school’s website and on the district website https://www.fultonschools.org/parentunits. Plus, parents will have the opportunity to earn a certificate for completing each unit!
Thank you for sharing your student with us. We look forward to partnering with you to give them the best education Fulton County Schools has to offer.
