AAPI Leadership Club
The AAPI Leadership Club at Andover High School was founded to celebrate cultural heritage and promote inclusivity. Recently, the club hosted an Asian lantern-making event in honor of the Asian Lunar New Year, bringing together students and teachers in a vibrant celebration of tradition and creativity.
Red lanterns, a symbol of good luck and prosperity in many Asian cultures, are commonly displayed during the New Year to bring fortune to families. During the event, participants had the opportunity to craft their own lanterns from scratch, creating vibrant, handmade decorations that they proudly took home. More than just an art activity, the event fostered cultural appreciation, strengthened community bonds, and highlighted the importance of representation and shared traditions.
