Sundays From The Mesa # 10
October 14th - October 18th
Principal's Message
Dear Alta Mesa Families,
Believe it or not the first-trimester is coming to an end! Your child will start assessments next week. We want to emphasize the significance of students concentrating and performing to the best of their abilities during these assessments. The results will help us understand each student’s academic needs and guide our teachers’ instruction moving forward. Please partner with us by motivating your child to excel during this testing period.
Alta Mesa, along with schools statewide, will observe Digital Citizenship Week from October 14th to 18th. This initiative aims to empower students and families to make safe, smart, and ethical choices in the digital landscape. Each year, we recognize Digital Citizenship Week during the third week of October, and this year, our 2nd -5th grade students will engage in lessons and activities throughout the week.
Are you wanting to get ahead start on your holiday shopping? Well look no further! Alta Mesa's Booster Club is sending home our cookie dough fundraiser tomorrow. This can take some of the ease out of some of your shopping and the funds go back to your child's classroom to use for field trips and activities. Prizes for students who sell certain amounts of product are available. Information packets are going home with students tomorrow. This fundraiser will run from October 14 until October 28th.
Mark your calendar for Alta Mesa's Fall Carnival on Friday, October 25th from 5-7pm. The Booster Club is looking for volunteers. Please look at the sign up below. Each classroom is collecting candy, nut free treats or non candy items (check-out the Amazon Wish List) on the flyer below. The class with the most candy donations will get a class ice cream party.
5th grade Growth & Development will be Wednesday, October 16th. If you did not wish for your student to attend, please make sure you fill out the form that went home with your student and return it to your student's teacher. We only need forms back if you do NOT want your student to attend.
Our new reader board should be finished by the end of the week. Thank you for being patient while this project is getting completed.
Looking forward to fabulous fall week at Alta Mesa!

LEADERIZE Alta Mesa
OCTOBER: HABIT 2 - BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND
At our school, we believe every student is a leader, and this month we’re diving into Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind. This habit is all about setting goals to be successful! When we have a clear picture of what we want to achieve, it helps us make better choices now that can lead to awesome results later. Whether it’s finishing a project, getting to school on time, acing a test, or even thinking about future dreams, starting with a plan makes all the difference. Let’s work together to stay focused, make great decisions, and create the future we want, one step at a time!

October 28th - 31st is Red Ribbon/Spirit Week at Alta Mesa. We will have themed dress-up days for the week and we will be allowing Halloween costumes for all TK-5th grade students. Costumes need to meet the dress code, and fake blood of any color is not allowed. In addition, weapons and masks associated with costumes as well as inflatable costumes need to stay at home. Costumes worn to school should not be scary or gory as we are a TK - 5th school, and some students, especially little ones, may have a negative adverse reaction to such costumes. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Dress up days:
Monday, October 28th: "Red"-y to be drug free - Wear red to support Red Ribbon Week
Tuesday, October 29th: Hats off to a healthy life - Wear your favorite hat to school
Wednesday, October 30th: Team up for healthy choices - Wear your favorite sports jersey or Alta Mesa Shirt
