Morning Devotion
Each day at CCS, students gather for a song of worship, a scripture and time of devotion, and the singing of the doxology. Some of the scriptures used this past week during morning devotion are listed below.
Some of this week's scriptures were:
- Psalm 119:105
- Psalm 18:32-33
- Philippians 1:12-18
On Friday, upper school students enjoyed an illustration using eggs of the meaning and elements of the Easter story and God's plan for salvation with Dr. Boyd. He will be visiting the lower school students on Monday to do the same thing.
Next week, during morning devotion time, Mr. Rutherford will be leading upper school students through Holy Week.
May Hot Lunch Ordering
It's time to order hot lunches for May!
**LOWER SCHOOL Field Day is May 2nd but they are NOT planning any special lunches for the kids this year, so you can still order pizza for that day.
The last day to order is Sunday, April 27th.
Go to https://cullmanchristian.gradelinklunch.com/ to order.
Make sure you select the dot beside the menu item and then press "add lunch."
After all lunches are added, BEFORE YOU PRESS SUBMIT, please check and make sure that it is showing the day and the price of $6.00 for EACH DAY. If there is a day that does not show the date and the price, then it will not process correctly.
Looking Back on Last Week

College Ready
On Tuesday, students in the upper school participated in the PreACT and ACT exams. These standardized exams serve a few different purposes.
- The ACT is a college entrance exam that is used by colleges and universities for student admission and for scholarships. A high score on this exam is the #1 way for students to earn college scholarship money. Students at CCS take this exam at school in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade.
- The PreACT, taken by our 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students, is a great way to help students prepare for the full exam by getting early exposure and valuable feedback. This helps students build stamina for the full exam and also target areas that need some extra work.
- Student assessment, in general, is one way we self-evaluate as a school. Analyzing student progress, areas of strength, and areas of weakness helps teachers determine what areas of instruction need adjustment.
Resulting scores for these exams should be back in just a few short weeks.
PE
Book Checkouts
The love for books and the Bookmobile continues! We love seeing students so excited about reading! This critical skill is best achieved through more than just classroom lessons. It is vital that students practice at home too. Developing strong reading skills gives students an advantage and makes for a life-long activity for enjoyment.

Student of the Year

Evelyn will be attending the University of Alabama this fall where she plans to major in English Language Arts.
It's a MUSICAL!
Wow! What a show!
Upper school students, under the direction of Mrs. Warden and Mrs. Griffin, put on two wonderful shows this weekend. It was easy to see that CCS has a great number of incredibly talented students! Through music and choreographed dance, the group performed a comedy story of two brothers who are desperate to write a hit play, only to be upstaged by Shakespeare.
This project was a huge undertaking and all of the students really stepped up. From attending extra practices, to helping with props and stage design, to costumes, to headshots and event photography by the photography class, to student designed playbill by the journalism class.... everyone did a great job!
There are lots of pictures linked in the folder below. Enjoy!

Iowa & CogAT Testing (Grades 2-6)
Student assessment is important as a means of measuring progress, but it should not be a source of stress for students and teachers. Sometimes this stress is not only because of the length of testing, but also because of the emphasis placed on it. Our hope is that by breaking things down in smaller chunks and maintaining daily routines that the students can enjoy school days that are pretty close to normal schedule without all the fuss. No need to interrupt PE or lunch or recess; those things they all enjoy!
We will begin the first half of testing this week.

Other Important Items
Tuition Payments and Student Records
Tuition payments for families are managed through FACTS. We are excited to announce that beginning in the fall, CCS will also be using FACTS for daily operations and student records! This will make everything more streamlined and mobile friendly. Parents will be able to manage accounts, pay balances, order lunches, check grades and attendance, and much more all in one place!
FACTS will be one stop shopping for everything!
We will be transitioning all student records and functions (including tuition payments, lunch ordering, before/after care management, grades, attendance, and communications) to FACTS.
Here’s what you need to know:
All families will need a FACTS account.
Great news… Most of you already have an account!
If you do not have an account, you will create one here https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/3CZ07
Gradelink will no longer be used after this school year.
All payments and financial statements and contracts will be through FACTS.
All hot lunch orders will be done through FACTS.
All things academic, like grades and attendance will be monitored through FACTS.
All before/after care attendance and billing will be through FACTS.
Communication services for delays, cancellations, and announcements will be through FACTS.
The best part…. FACTS is MOBILE FRIENDLY! No more swapping back and forth to different services and platforms! You will be able to do everything from your phone.
