Please note that students have 20 minutes designated for eating with additional time during recess for those who need more time. The staff encourages all students to eat and to ensure they have plenty of time. However, students are ultimately responsible for eating. If you are concerned your child is not eating or is extremely hungry because they are in a rush for recess, please talk with your child. We will continue to encourage good eating habits.

Congratulations to this group of students who received recognition after not only receiving a Pronghorn Pride Ticket, but for also being selected to represent their peers. These students were caught either modeling a school-wide expectation or showing ownership for their learning. Way to be #PronghornStrong!

Pleasant View is kicking off a little friendly competition this month with an event to spread a little community love and kindness.

Our school will be celebrating kindness all month. As part of this month's events, will be collecting canned food for the Meridian Food Bank. Please dig deep this year and give from the heart! There will be a class competition with a prize for the class that brings in the most canned food.

Some of the preferred and needed items are:

• Peanut butter
• Rice
• Mac and cheese
• Pasta
• Pasta sauce
• Canned meat
• Cereal
• Boxes or individual servings
• Canned fruit
  
• Granola bars
• Fruit snacks
• Soup
• Peanut butter
• Canned items that include proteins such canned tuna or chicken
• Canned ravioli,
• Boxed items such as: hamburger helper and instant mac n cheese.
• Baking items such as flour, sugar, salt, pepper, and other seasonings

It is time for the annual District Art Show artwork projects to begin. The District Art Show is scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 20, 2023. This year, the theme for Elementary will be “Going Places.” If your child would like to work on a submission at home, those will be due to the PVE Front Office by February15. Only ONE piece will be selected from the building to be submitted to the District Art Competition. The PVE staff will vote on the final piece to submit.

You may have heard that we will be holding Spring Parent Teacher Conferences this year on the afternoon of February 17. These conferences are not necessary for every student. A spring conference will be offered for students who have an academic or behavior need. Teachers will be sending out specific communication for these conferences. If you have specific questions, please reach out to your child's teacher.

Pleasant View Elementary is participating in the Roaring Readers program as partnership with Roaring Springs Waterpark. This program encourages your child to read on a consistent basis. A log is included for students to record their reading times.

Students K-4 are encouraged to read 600 minutes and 5th grades goal is 800 minutes. By participating in this reading program your child will be rewarded a FREE day ticket to Roaring Springs Waterpark!

All entries need to be turned in to their teacher no later than March 27th, 2023.

We are still receiving emails and calls from our neighbors about cars blocking all or parts of their driveways during the drop off and pick up times. Since this is a public road, homeowners have been asked to contact our Meridian Police Department to help with this concern. Again, we ask that you please be kind and courteous to your neighbors and respect the safety concern this can create. Please leave driveways clear and do not double park in the street.

We are asking for your help and consideration with picking up and dropping off at the side and back entrances of the school. Please be respectful and use the area in front of the walkways as a quick drop off. If you would like to park and walk your child to the campus entry, please think about parking on the opposite side of the street or away from the path so we can keep traffic flowing. I know the parent using this would appreciate it, as would the neighbors living in these areas.

This school is in desperate need of Noon Duties. We find that we often have to eliminate the basketball hoops and other areas because we do not have enough staffing to cover these spaces for recess.

We are looking for a few parents who are open to volunteering at lunch to help run football, basketball, and soccer games. As much as students love playing these games here at school, playing for fun and refereeing themselves is often difficult. However, when the adults can help interact and support, our students LOVE IT. So... here is your chance to join us and engage in some great kid time.
