Eagle's Edge
January 5th, 2024
Thank you so much, parents!
Students have followed directions perfectly this week, at least when it comes to the snow. Thank you for supporting that request at home. Really, thank you!
++++Please note that there was a typo/misprint earlier. The second day that we are making up due to snow, is Monday March 4th. Initially I mistakenly typed May 4. Forget that. Apologies for the confusion.
Important Upcoming Events!!
Coming in hot, and fast....
1. This Sunday, Jan 28, is our Open House at 11:30 - 1:30, preceded by 10 a.m. mass. This is HUGE for our community! Come join us, invite family and friends, or anyone you know who is looking for new schools for their children. Don't miss it!! (If you bring in a new family to St. Therese, and they enroll and remain in good standing, we will give you a $500 discount on your tuition! Not a bad finder's fee, for bring a couple friends and family members!!)
2. Parents Club meeting repurposed for Lunar New Year Planning event, Monday Jan. 29th in the PSC, at 6pm.
2. We have to make up 2 of the 4 snow days that we missed last week.
- The first make up day is Friday Feb. 2, during Catholic Schools Week.
- The second make up day is Monday March 4th, which will be a 1/2 day with dismissal at 12 noon. (We planned this so that it wouldn't affect any long holiday weekends.)
3. Vietnamese class will resume this week with our instructor, Ms. Trang. She will be teaching the younger of the groups, then we will alternate. 3:45- 4:45
St. Therese School Open House
We need your help in hosting tours, and the best thing you could do for St. Therese is to bring in new families who are interested in St. Therese School! We'll reward you for it!
We invite all our school families who attend St Therese, or other parishes, and those who are not Catholic, to join us for mass at 10 a.m. It will be led by the teachers and should be fun! After that, we will head over to the Open House.
All students who attend mass in their school uniforms will get a free dress pass to use at their discretion!
Parents and Students can get their Fair Share Hours/service hours done by helping with this event! This is our best chance to open the eyes of other families about all that we offer at St. Therese. Read the bold print at the bottom too!
Open House & School Tours
Sunday, January 28th, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
We invite all interested parents and guardians and their children to come visit the school and learn more about St. Therese's commitment to accessible Catholic education for all families in our community. We are a faith-filled educational institution anchored in the teachings of the Catholic Church. St. Therese is the most diverse school offering rigorous academics to students from Pre-K through 8th grade. Come see what makes us different than other schools. It's quite a bit!!
Spread the word to your friends and neighbors!
- All teachers will be in their classrooms to meet prospective new parents and students
- Student Council and middle school students will be leading tours along with parents.
***We are happy to offer an incentive to our current families to bring in other family and friends to the St. Therese Open House. If you refer a new family to St. Therese School and they enroll in school, remain in school, and are in good standing, the school will reward that referral with a $500 discount on your tuition.
Catholic Schools Week is time to celebrate US!!
We kick off Catholic Schools Week with mass on Sunday Jan 28th. There are fun events and themes for each day, as you can see below.
Parents Club Meeting all about Planning for Lunar New Year Celebration
Monday January 29th @ 6 p.m. in the Parish Social Center (PSC)
Friday February 9th 2024
Don't miss the party! The celebration is for all people, and will begin with song and dance performances, amazing lion dancers, food and drinks, and too much more to cover in this blurb. While Lunar New Year is most typically celebrated in east Asian cultures, this is a celebration for all of our students, and the community at large. Seeing students from almost every cultural background that you can imagine was one of the highlights of last year's show, and we're going to do it again!
The Parents Club is looking for more students to participate in the fashion show. They are still in need of a few more volunteers too, so come join the party! See details below.
Many more details to come. Stay tuned!
Lunar New Year - The Year of the Dragon will be here before we know it!
Year of the Dragon plaques, designed by your kids!
Mr. Wizard, I mean Mr. Rymer, has worked hard with the tech classes, to design these awesome designs! We are suggesting a modest donation of $30. There are 3 or 4 pieces of wood cut separately, and then they are assembled. I assure it's a slim profit margin. The prices of wood are crazy these days, and this is nice Baltic Birch wood.
Those small profits go right back to the tech program!
If you are interested in purchasing one, Please email me schoningc@stthereseschool.org, or Mr. Rymer rymerb@stthereseschool.org
How cool are these? Year of the Dragon!

Lunar New Year Art with Mrs. Radford
Bilateral Mirror Art Projects
Bilateral drawings are spontaneous drawings created using both hands simultaneously. The aim is to make marks and not to create any specific image. The marks made with right and left hands should mirror each other.
Not only can you create some beautiful abstract artworks, but using both hands is said to improve connectivity between the two sides of the brain.
Art Therapists use this activity to relieve anxiety, which I thought might benefit our 8th grade as they apply to highschool.
Pizza Friday is Back this Friday!
Feel free to download these order forms, cut them in half, and send your child's order to school as early in the week as you can. The hard copies of the forms will go home with your child tomorrow also. Still, earlier the better! Thank you!
