Dixie Magnet Elementary
Where the impossible comes true
Principal Update
Good morning! I hope this message finds you well as we wind down this amazing school year at Dixie Magnet! We kicked off this week with an outstanding showcase of talent as our fifth graders dazzled us with four amazing performances of "The Lion King"! It was truly a memorable start to the week, showcasing the creativity and dedication of our students.
As we approach the end of the school year, many grade levels have been celebrating accomplishments and milestones. Our fifth graders had a fantastic time celebrating their journey with a trip to GattiTown, creating lasting memories with friends. Our kindergartners had their annual end of year celebration and we were so excited to welcome families to the celebration.
In addition to our in-house celebrations, we had the pleasure of hosting students from Crawford Elementary, who shared a quilt they made depicting the Underground Railroad. They spent time reading to our first and second graders, fostering a sense of community and mentorship.
Excitingly, a group of dedicated students from third, fourth, and fifth grades have been diligently working on creating a profile of a learner for Dixie. This marks a significant milestone as it's the first time students have taken the lead in crafting such a document. Students analyzed portraits of a graduate from districts across the state and then reflected on their learning at Dixie in order to highlight the most important skills that all students should learn during their time at Dixie. We are eagerly anticipating sharing their end product soon!
Looking ahead, we have just two more days left in the 23-24 school year. Our last day for students will be on Wednesday. We invite 5th grade families to join us for the fifth-grade promotion ceremony on Wednesday morning at 8:30, as we celebrate the accomplishments of our graduating class.
Thank you all for being part of this special year at Dixie. I tell everyone I can that Dixie is a special place, and that's because of you. Your unwavering support, dedication, and commitment to our students' success have been the driving force behind our achievements this year. It has been an honor serving as your principal, and I will cherish the memories we've created together. Thank you for making Dixie Elementary such a special place. I look forward to cheering Dixie on as you continue to provide opportunities for our students to be a positive force in our changing world!
Sincerely,
Cynthia Bruno, Principal
