November 11th is Veterans Day, a day set aside to recognize and thank those who have served our country. While many school districts and businesses close as part of this recognition, District 153 stays open as an opportunity to educate our students and publicly recognize many of the veterans and others who have or are serving our country from our community.

Veterans Day 2024 started with a flag raising ceremony at James Hart. A school assembly followed featuring a rendition of "The March of the Armed Services," a chance to recognize the day's honored guests by their branch of service (video below). The day ended with breakfast for the service members nd their loved ones.

Because Walter the Therapy Dog has been a very good boy, Willow School's 1st-graders cast their ballots on Nov. 4th to decide if Walter should get a toy, a treat, or a bone.

When the count was over, Walter got the TREATS he deserved!

Congratulations to the James Hart 7th-Grade Girls Basketball Team for their regional win over Markham's Prairie Hills on Nov. 18th. They compete next in the sectionals against Downers Grove on Dec. 4th.

The 8th-graders start their tournament on Saturday against Phoenix Coolidge.
