June 3: The Power of Play for Preschool and Elementary Parents and Caregivers
- When parents and caregivers play with their children, it allows them to relive the joys of their childhood. Caregivers who play with their children naturally become more attentive to their child's nonverbal behavior and develop a better understanding of a child's sense of humor, creativity and personality. Engaging in play improves communication skills between caregivers and children and promotes bonding. Beyond the fun and games, play is essential to your child's health and development. Play helps build important social-emotional, cognitive, language and self-regulation skills. When you play with your child, you also help create the safe, stable and nurturing relationships they need to thrive. This workshop will teach the benefits of play as well give ideas to connect with your child through play.
