Just a Reminder about Dress Code
2024-25 MJHS Dress Code
In establishing a standard of dress, it is not the intention of the campus administrators to regulate fashion or determine what is or isn’t stylish. The standards of dress, listed below, are intended to encourage modesty and the development of acceptable grooming habits for students so that they can continue to pursue their future educational, social, and vocational goals.
1. Attire will be clean and hemmed and shall not have holes, rips, or cuts above mid-thigh.
2. Clothing shall not imply or promote alcohol, sex, drugs, tobacco, violence, gangs, racial slurs, or offensive language.
3. Clothes must be the appropriate size where undergarments are not defined or visible. No sagging or inappropriately tight clothing will be allowed. This will be determined by campus administrators.
4. No swimwear is acceptable.
5. Shirts and dresses must have sleeves.
6. Shirts must not expose cleavage or midriffs (crop-top) when standing, sitting or walking.
7. Trench coats, (or look a likes), will not be allowed in the building.
8. Shorts must be to mid-thigh in length when standing and cannot be rolled.
9. Skirts and dresses must be mid-thigh all the way around, front, back, and sides.
10. Yoga Pants, leggings, tights, and jeggings must be covered up with shorts, a skirt, a dress, or a shirt that goes to mid-thigh in the front, back, and on the sides when standing.
11. Shoes must be worn. No house shoes.
12. No headgear or sunglasses will be allowed inside the building.
13. Hair must be neat, clean, and of natural color. No extreme Hair Styles (ex. Mohawk, Spiked, Etc.) No picks or combs in the hair.
14. No facial hair will be allowed. Sideburns must not extend below the ear lobe.
15. No accessory may be spiked, studded, or contain chains.
16.Boys may not display visible piercings, make-up, or fingernail polish.
17.Girls may have no more than 3 piercings per ear, and no other visible piercings are allowed (ex. No Facial Piercings).
18.Band-aids or spacers may not be used to cover piercings that aren’t allowed.
19. No visible tattoos will be allowed.
If the principal determines that a student’s grooming or clothing violates the school’s dress code, the student will be given an opportunity to correct the problem. A parent may be called to bring additional clothing. If the problem cannot be corrected, the student may be assigned to ISS.
