PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Welcome Back!

It's great to be back at Eagle Academy!

We are thrilled to welcome back so many familiar faces along with new students this year! Students have spent this week getting to know the building, their schedules, and eachother.

We started our new Renew Team period, which acts as a space for team-building, SEL, and to build connections.

Two new electives are being taught this year. Students are excited to take Creative Writing with Mrs. Newman, and Contemperary Issues with Mr. Smith.

We ended our week with a barbeque to welcome everyone into the school year! Students and staff enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs, and outdoor sports.

Breakfast is free for all students again this year, and begins service on September 9th. Families who qualify for free lunch meals should apply on our website as soon as possible - https://www.myschoolapps.com/.

Jeopardy and Escape the Classroom Activities in Social Studies

Mr. Smith's Social Studies classes are off to a fun start. Students started the year with the usual introductions and summer recaps, followed by a Jeopardy-style game on the NewsELA web site. On Friday students had to search the room to solve the Escape the Classroom riddles. Clues were history-based and required teamwork to unlock.

You can create your own escape room using Microsoft Word! Just create a Word document with your clues and create a password to open the document. The next step is to have the students create their own escape rooms for the rest of the class.
