SR3 Parent Connection

September 2022
Welcome to the 2022-23 School Year
We’ve had a great start to the 2022-23 school year!
Our SR3 campuses have been abuzz with activity and learning the last few weeks. Our teachers are as anxious as students are to get back into the swing of school. Successes are already being celebrated for exceeding reading goals, outstanding math scores, and learning through hands-on studies. Savannah has a long-standing reputation for greatness and high-quality education.
We are working hard to bring parents and community volunteers back into our schools this year. I would highly encourage you to consider volunteering on one of our campuses. Listening to emerging readers, helping with morning drop-off duties, and assisting with field trips are all excellent ways to get involved.
Our custodial and maintenance staff did a wonderful job this summer getting our facilities ready for students and staff to return last month. Several maintenance projects were completed this summer, including the complete replacement of gas lines at SHS, new walk-in coolers/freezers at Minnie Cine, SHS, and John Glenn, HVAC replacements at Minnie Cline, Amazonia, and John Glenn, new flooring in the media center at Minnie Cline and the kitchen at Amazonia Elementary, and upgrades to the boys' bathrooms in Helena. See our website for a full list of completed summer projects. https://www.savannahr3.com/page/maintenanceupdates. In the coming weeks, the Board of Education will look to prioritize more maintenance projects thanks to the voters of Andrew County, who supported our $0.15 tax levy.
Now that school is in full swing, so are student activities. If you haven’t taken the time to catch a game or enjoy the band under the Friday night lights, I highly recommend you do so. Our students will be out in full force next week! Homecoming in Savannah is a true Norman Rockwell-type celebration in our community. Take some time to enjoy the artwork around the square, and plan to bring your lawn chair and candy bucket(s) out to the parade on Friday. Of course, you’ll find me on the hill at the football game as we cheer on our Savannah Savages!

Tyler, Canvas, and TeacherEase - oh my!
Struggling to keep track of your students grades? Unsure which platform is for you? Let us help!
Tyler SIS - Tyler is our district Student Information System. We use this platform to store information about every student and staffer at SR3. Basic contact information, family demographics, emergency contact information, schedules, grade history, and lunch money are among some of the information stored securely in this system. As a parent, you will log into Tyler SIS to register your student, pay fees, and add lunch money to your child's account.
Canvas - Canvas is our Learning Management System for 6th through 12th grade. Our secondary students each have a Canvas log in that they utilize on a regular basis to access class information and assignments. As a parent, you can use Canvas to track your student's grades and see assignments.
TeacherEase - TeacherEase is our Learning Management System for K-5th grade. Our elementary students use a standards based grading system vs the traditional letter grades. TeacherEase allows for this grading system. As a parent, you can use TeacherEase to track your student's progress towards learning targets.
