Sunnyvale ISD E-News

SISD was delighted to host over 50 residents for the Legacy Club today for its once-a-semester luncheon. For our spring luncheon, Legacy Club members met at SHS and were treated to special music provided by the Vale Jazz Combo and then presentations from two of our outstanding student leadership groups - the SHS Gold Jackets and PALS.

Members also listened to an update from Sunnyvale ISD Superintendent Matt Kimball and enjoyed a delicious lunch, followed by tours of the high school campus, conducted by the Gold Jackets.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of a special Charge Coin from Mr. Kimball to long-time Sunnyvale resident and SISD supporter King Moss. Mr. Moss is a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in United States Army. SISD is so grateful for his service to our country and to our community.

Congrats to Sara John, who recently medaled at the state Visual Arts Scholastic Competition!

Congratulations to the following students for placing at the UIL Region Speech contest this weekend:

-Logan Freeman placed 5th and is alternate to state in Poetry Interp.

-Valentina Fernandez placed 5th and is alternate to state in Informative Speaking.

-Dylan Neve placed 3rd and is advancing to the state meet in Prose Interpretation.

-Lyla Gent placed 3rd and is advancing to the state meet in Persuasive Speaking.

-Sydney Fawcett placed 2nd and is advancing to the state meet in Informative Speaking.

-Grace Miles is the region champion and is advancing to the state meet in Poetry Interpretation.

-Morgan D'Elia is the region champion and is advancing to the state meet in LD Debate.

The Sunnyvale Speech and Debate team was crowned the overall Region Champion Team, with a state qualifier in all speech and debate events for this school year.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Pinnochio, SHS' UIL One Act Play company, for placing third at region competition on Friday.

-Logan Freeman won honorable mention all-star cast;

-Luke Hughes won All Star Crew; and

-Dylan Neve won All Star Cast.

One Act Play was named State Alternate for the second year in a row.
