8th Graders - We want your Band Shirt!
Next year's 8th graders are the last class that will use our dark blue, button-down shirts. If you're willing to donate your shirt - next year's students will use them. We have some new students in music next year and also many students will grow and need a larger size.
IF possible - please wash before you send it in!
Summer Private Music Lessons - Verify your Time
If you signed up for Summer School Lessons - This document contains your student's lesson day and time along with their lesson teacher. Lessons will take place at Central Heights Middle School in the music area. Each teacher will have a teaching space labeled with their name. MUST DO ASAP - please email coordinator, Erin Gleason, that your time works: eegleas@sunprairieschools.org
Reminders:
- Summer School runs from Monday June 17 until Thursday July 18 (5 weeks total). There will be no summer school on Wednesday, June 19, Thursday, June 20 and Thursday July 4.
- Students who are registered for summer school should leave their class 2 minutes before their scheduled lesson. Please politely tell your teacher before you leave class. Students need to make sure they remember to bring their instrument to summer school on the day of their lesson (students with larger instruments please see info below).
- Students who are not registered for summer school should plan on arriving for their lesson 3-5 minutes before their scheduled time. Please enter the main entrance (door 1) and report directly to the music area. Students should plan on leaving school grounds as soon as they complete their lesson.
- Students who play Tuba, Euphonium, or Bari/Tenor Sax will have an instrument at Central Heights for them to use. Tuba and Euphonium students should bring their mouthpiece.
Summer practice instruments will also be available by the last week of school - students can take them home over the summer and keep them through next year. They have all been inventoried, maintenanced, and cleaned.
Summer Music Camps
Are you interested in playing over the summer? Below are just a few of the camps that students have gone to over the years and really enjoyed (and improved!). Contact Mr. Melrose or Ms. Lechner if you have questions:
UW Whitewater - Summer Music Camp (July 21 - 26)
Whitewater is not just a place; it’s a community. At Warhawk Band Camp, you will rehearse with talented college students, learn from recognized faculty and staff, play in state-of-the-art facilities, get a taste of the college experience, and create memories with new and old friends.

There is a creative artistic path for everyone! With sessions for both middle and high school students, Summer Music Clinic offers a wide variety of musical experiences - drumming, composing, dance, etc...

The week-long camp offers exceptional opportunities for motivated students entering grades 7–12 to learn more about music. Students participate in one of two concert bands, faculty-led master classes, sectionals, and a wide range of course offerings. Optional private lessons are also available.
