SHS HIGHLIGHTS
-Senior Sunrise RECAP
The first of many events to celebrate our SHS Senior Class of 2025 was one for the memory books!
The Senior Sunrise was held on Friday, December 13th at the Seminole Stadium. Senior students were treated to donuts and a hot drink of their choice. They took some time to write letters to anyone who has made an impact on them or to their future selves. The event concluded with a balloon release on the 50-yard line of the field.
The Senior Class Committee would like to thank all participating seniors for showing up early in the morning for this event. We really hope you enjoyed!

-Seminole Winter Wonderland Market
On Thursday, December 12th, Mrs. Sparkman (CTAE) and Ms. Geter (School Counselor), pictured left, hosted the Seminole Winter Wonderland Market, providing a platform for our entrepreneurial students to showcase their talents.
The purpose of the Seminole Winter Wonderland Market was to provide a fun way to wrap up the semester and for students to showcase their business and hopefully inspire other students. Ms. Geter stated, "We have a lot of student entrepreneurs, and we wanted them to have the opportunity to share their creativity with others. We thought that the holidays would be a fun time for them to sell some of the things they have created".
The young entrepreneurs really appreciated the opportunity to display their unique products, and the student attendees enjoyed supporting their fellow classmates.

Rockdale County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) offered the Georgia Association of Conservation District’s (GACD) poster contest to public, private and homeschooled students from K-12 grade in the schools throughout the Rockdale. Each year, the winning posters reflect GACD’s annual Stewardship theme and highlight the work of Conservation Districts to protect and enhance natural resources. This year’s theme “May the Forest Be with You, Always” promotes the importance of our forests. Rockdale County SWCD also participated in the photo contest which reflects conservation practices. The photo contest was offered to students 6-12 grades.

SPORTS NEWS
-One of Salem's Finest Returns to Coach
We are happy to share that Jordan Scott, a proud Salem High School native, will be returning this Spring to join the Seminole Baseball coaching staff.
Scott attended Salem in 2013. He credits his father and mentors, like Coach Dilligard, for shaping his academics and athletics. He and his father trained together in the early mornings and after school. By the Summer of 2014, Scott earned over 40 scholarship offers. He committed to UGA but ultimately the interest he received from Major League Baseball shifted his plans and he enrolled at the prestigious IMG Academy in 2015. This paved the way for him to be drafted by the New York Yankees.
We had the opportunity to sit down with Coach Scott and ask him a few questions:
- What are your goals going into this season? "Make everything simple. The sports we play are all kid games. I plan to make it simple, make it fun, understandable and enjoyable for a 16-year-old to comprehend.
- Why are you choosing to work during your off season? "It's about giving back. That I am blessed to be where I am, and I want to be able to share my story and push young men to be better"
- What advice do you have for students who want to make it to the next level? "Listen to your parents/guardians and develop good work ethic. You have to out work everybody. Baseball is a universal sport. You have players from every country, every island. You have to be better than the 5%. You have to out work the next man in the classroom, on the baseball field, your diet has to be good. To be a professional you have to be one way before you get there.
- What keeps you grounded? "As I reach my 9th year of professional baseball, I continue to rely on the faith and trust I’ve placed in those who have supported me along the way. Blood, sweat, and tears barely begin to describe the journey—but with faith, all things are possible"!
We welcome Coach Scott back to the Seminole Family and look forward to seeing the impact he makes for the baseball team.
-Salem Cheer Recognition
A big "Shout-out" to the Salem Seminoles Cheerleading Team on their nomination for the GCCA 2025 Team of the Year. This is the most prestigious honor in the state of Georgia for a cheerleading team to earn. We wish them the best of luck as they continue the next steps in the award process.
