SMS Weekly Update
November 15, 2024
From the Principal
Dear SMS Family,
I thoroughly enjoyed assisting the Band program with our first Bingo Night of the year. I was charged with calling some numbers and telling some eye-rollingly bad jokes. I was impressed with the turnout, and am quite proud of our performing arts program. SMS is lucky to have a full stable of amazing performing arts teachers.
I also want to thank our parent volunteers for everything they contribute to our school. We have been incredibly blessed to have such a supportive parent community. Please consider donating time if you have any availability midday to help us with our lunch programming. We can always use parents to help us with our lunch time activity item check outs and help with monitoring our game room. The more adults we have assisting, the more options we can provide for students.
Have a fantastic weekend,
Andy

SMS Food Drive
SMS will hold a Food Drive starting Monday. The drive will be November 18-Thursday, November 21. Students will earn points for their Flight Time class by bringing in items from the daily category. Please do not bring perishable or expired items, glass or open containers.
All items will be donated to the Sherwood Elks and will support local families in need.
Archer Zone
On Thursday, November 21st we will be having our first Archer Zone. This is a time when students who have met the following expectations will get a “bonus fun activity during the school day” that looks and functions much like our flex period where students can sign up for preferred activities.
Criteria for Archer Zone:
No major office referrals
No more than 2 minor office referrals
No detentions assigned for too many tardies (5 or more in a given week)
We will be on a special schedule in the afternoon beginning at 2:20pm. If you need to pick up your student(s) please know that it will take us extra time to get your student(s) to the office. It is recommended that if you need to pick your student up please consider having them to the office prior to the activity beginning in the afternoon. We understand there are unforeseen situations that do not allow for this and we will be make every effort to have your student to the office in a timely manner. Thank you for your support and understanding.
Lost & Found
Do you see anything that belongs to your student? Please have your student check lost & found. It is always helpful to label your items. We do our best to get the labeled items back to the students.
