UPCOMING EVENTS

Thursday, March 20 ~ HHS Parent/Teacher Spring Conferences
(window to book appoints will open on Thursday, March 13)
MESSAGE FROM DR. MEDEIROS:
During today's professional development, the HHS faculty spent time discussing our Vision of the Graduate, focusing specifically on how we prepares students to be "Effective Communicators" - one of the four core competencies in the Vision. Teachers shared examples from across disciplines that highlight how we support students in learning a variety of skills, technologies, and tools that enable them to present clear, compelling, and persuasive information. Being an effective communicator requires more than overcoming a potential fear of public speaking; it requires students to scrutinize available information for its truthfulness, formulate arguments, and present ideas orally and visually for their targeted audience.
Another large chunk of time was spent on our annual training for the upcoming MCAS test administrations. Our first, English Language Arts for grades 8 and 10, is coming up in the next couple of weeks. Details about that logistics for that administration can be found later in this newsletter.
Lastly, we launch sign ups for our spring parent/teachers conferences tomorrow morning at 8AM. See more info below.

MCAS TESTING
2025 English Language Arts MCAS Testing Information
Reverse Half-Day Information
Tuesday, March 25 & Wednesday, March 26
The MCAS Test for English Language Arts will be administered to students in Grades 8 and 10 on Tuesday 3/25 and Wednesday 3/26. On most MCAS testing days, we operate school using a “reverse half-day model.” Because Hudson High School is a school with students in Grades 8-12, we must adhere to two testing timelines, and create a schedule for the day that allows all the students who are testing to be in school at the usual start time (7:30 am) and non-testing students to be in school later in the day (10:20am).
Preparation for Students
Students have been working diligently with their teachers to prepare for this important assessment. They should arrive to school on-time, alert, rested, fed and ready to show their best effort and work
Students MUST bring their Chromebook and Charger and should charge it overnight so it is operating on a full battery
Students MUST bring their own, personal pair of wired headphones
Wireless earbuds of any kind will not connect to the testing platform
Students cannot leave when they complete their test and will not have access to any electronic device during the testing time
Room assignments will be posted outside the Main Office on Friday, March 21, 2025.
Bus Transportation Information
If your student relies on bus transportation to school, please pay particular attention to the schedule below. Testing times are the same on both days. Morning buses will make two runs on each reverse half day. One bus run will pick up students being tested at the regular time and a second run later in the morning will pick up students in grades that are not being tested (see table below). Dismissal is at the regular time (2:03 pm) for all students on testing days.

Smoothies Week Success
During National Breakfast Week, our smoothie rollout at Hudson High was a total success! We offered a different flavor smoothie each day from 3/3-3/7 – both in the café and at our breakfast cart!
Students were able to vote on their favorite flavor – and we listened to re-vamp our menu. We will be now be consistently adding the following to our breakfast menu starting next week (3/10) based on student results:
Strawberry Banana Smoothies every Wednesday
Chocolate Banana Smoothies every Friday
All smoothies will be paired with Scooby Snacks and are FREE of charge for all students!
Thank you to all for a successful program!
