In addition to receiving the highest rating, River Oaks Elementary was one of the top performing elementary schools in Horry County! We are excited to share that our students will be involved in providing input in regards to the names and mascots of the two new schools. Both schools are anticipated to open in the fall of 2025.

Golden Spoon
The Golden Spoon is a program to reward students for good behavior in the cafe. There are three factors that determine who wins the spoon.
1. Behavior during lunch and exiting the cafe at the end of lunch period.
2. Cleanliness of the tables and floors.
3. The amount of recyclable that is remaining on the their trays during the tray line at the end of lunch.
The winning class is allowed to keep the Golden Spoon for a week to carry around the school as a class and receives a special treat to enjoy, based on the grade level.
READMARATHON
Read with Malcolm READMarathon begins October 8th! It's the Ultimate Virtual Stamina and Endurance Challenge where PK-12th grade teams go the distance to crush their reading goals and set personal records. The challenge runs until November 4th, 2024.
Students will log minutes daily on the school provided reading log that was sent home last week with students. Teachers will submit minutes as a team twice during the competition (October 18 and November 4).
Please count the minutes you are reading or listening to books and stories. Every minute counts! We are so excited for ROE students to continue reading! Mrs. Myers and Ms. Smith cannot wait to see how many minutes ROE teams can read. How many minutes will you read?
Student Council
We are excited to announce the return of our Student Council. Meetings will be held monthly at 6:30am. There will be one representative from each 4th and 5th grade classroom. The representatives will work to assist our school with community projects and school-based programs. We look forward to working with your students. The first project that student council will help lead is the fall Food Drive. This will begin on November 4th.
Honoring our Veteran's
Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere who bravely bears his country's cause. The veterans of our military services have put their lives on the line to protect the freedoms that we enjoy. They have dedicated their lives to their country and deserve to be recognized for their commitment. Thank YOU for your service! Thank YOU for your sacrifices, for your valor, for protecting us, and for defending our rights. Thank YOU to all our veterans for your courage, strength and dedication to keeping us safe.

- Exams and X-Rays

- Fillings
- Extractions and more
Parents are kept informed of their child's dental needs and the planned course of treatment.
If you are interested you can pick up a form at River Oaks Elementary School or you can complete the registration online at: http://bit.ly/M4Sreg2
The safety of the students is our highest priority, therefore, here are some reminders:
- Please contact the front desk regarding any transportation changes.
- Teachers are not able to reply to Dojo or SeeSaw messages during the instructional day.
- All changes must be made in writing to the front desk by 12 pm. We do not accept phone calls.
- Please have your school issued car rider tag on your dashboard and keep it there until your child gets in your car.
Thank you for your support in keeping your child safe.
Parent Drop off and Pick up Procedures
Please observe the road speed limits around the school to ensure the safety of the children and nearby families.
Morning Car Rider Drop Off:
- TO PROMOTE GREATER SAFETY, Parents should remain in their cars during drop off.
- When all traffic stops, please say quick good-byes and make sure your child has all his/her school materials. Please have your child exit the car promptly from the right side near the curb. Any slow exiting may cause a greater backup of cars.
- No drop off should occur in the front parking lot.
Afternoon Car Rider Pick Up:
- Parents must have the school issued car tag visible on the left corner of the dashboard so the "caller" may easily read it.
- If you do not have a school issued car tag, your child will NOT be called to dismiss and you will have to come into the school with proof of Identification.
Early Dismissal
Picking up your child early:
If you know you will pick your child up early, send a handwritten note in with your student stating the time the student will be picked up. When picking up your student, please go to the Main Office to sign your student out. All students MUST be signed out by a parent or guardian before leaving campus.
The latest time for dismissal from the front office is 2 pm.
Identification is required to pick up your student. Students will not be released to anyone not listed in PowerSchool as an approved pick-up unless we receive written notification from the parent/guardian.
School Attendance
Consistent school attendance is critical for student achievement. If students are not present, they cannot benefit from classroom instruction. State attendance laws require student attendance for course credit and grade-level promotion. Additionally, state attendance laws require intervention when a student is deemed truant. Please click HERE for Horry County Schools and South Carolina's Attendance Policy.
