~ Notes From Mrs. Richardson ~
Dear Mountain Park Families,
I hope you and your family remain safe during the incoming stormy weather. Remember that all schools and offices are closed Friday, September 27. At some point during the day tomorrow, I will come up to the school and assess the grounds and building to ensure no damage exists. Our district operations crew will also be ready to support any needs that may arise. Please keep an eye on your email for any information from the district for any weekend activities (MPE didn't have any planned).
One of my favorite things to do is visit classrooms and see our amazing teachers in action. Enjoy a few shots from my visits. It's always great to see teachers engaging with students in small groups. This is the time teachers can meet students individual needs, provide extra support or extend the curriculum to challenge students.
Our students also SHINE in our Specials classes. Every week students attend Art, Music, PE (twice per week) and Media (grades K &1) or Construction (grades 2-5). Our specials teachers would like to share all of the hard work happening in their classes with you as well. Please review our Special Areas Newsletter below!

Carpool Safety
I know that it is quite frustrating to still not have an officer to support our carpool line. It is important that our parents navigate our carpool line carefully, and with respect for each other. Please remember to adhere to the following important guidelines
- Please do not pull around cars in the morning drop off line. We are moving as quickly as possible and will move the line quickly if students are ready to exit on the passenger side when parents pull up to the adult.
- Please remain in the lane that you pull into until the merge point. When you change lanes, it backs up the line for other parents waiting.
- Please exercise kindness and model respect for your children.
- Remember students are never tardy on the bus!
Picture Day
Tuesday, October 8th is Fall Picture Day. On this day, all students will take their individual pictures for the yearbook. School portraits will be taken by BPI Photography. Please note, the printed date on the flyer sent home in Thursday folders today says October 9th. This is incorrect. Picture Day will be on the 8th.
For those who wish to order online using a debit or credit card, click our school’s prepay link below to order:
- Online Prepay Purchase / Credit Cards:
https://bpiphotography.net/view-order-photos/
- Cash or Check (with an order form, collected by a BPI photographer)
a. ONLY accepted on Picture Day
b. Cash - Exact Change only
c. Checks made payable to: BPI Photography
Pre-Orders are available through picture day, and those packages will deliver back to the school for your child to bring home. You CAN still order pictures after picture day all-year long, but post-picture day orders ship directly home, so there will be a residential shipping charge. BPI guarantees 100% satisfaction. If you are unsatisfied, upon return of your original package, you may receive a full refund. You may also have your student retake their picture on makeup day and BPI will reorder that package for you. If you have any questions about Picture Day, please contact Mrs. Gantenbein at gantenbeinm@fultonschools.org.

Creative Minds Club
In the Creative Minds Art Club, we champion the artist in everyone. Our mission is to inspire confidence in artistry and reveal the magic of creation.
Students will come into a WORKING ARTIST STUDIO where they will learn techniques for their OWN creations. Some projects will be teacher-led, but the goal is to allow students to find their inspiration and create from there — we value process and experimentation over final products, because that’s where real learning and creativity lie.
Classes are limited to 10 so that each student receives 1:1 time working on their projects.
In the Creative Minds Art Club, it’s more than just an art project, you'll leave with a sense of accomplishment and newfound confidence. Link - https://paulambrett.com/creativeminds-art-club

On-Site Counseling Services at Mountain Park
My name is Samantha Scalabrino, and I am a licensed therapist with The Summit Counseling Center. I work at Mountain Park to provide private, individual counseling to students in need. I have worked as a therapist for 20 years and have previous experience working in schools for children with behavioral difficulties and with special needs.
Students who use my services have a wide range of needs: they may be experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, thoughts of self-harm, and/or behavioral challenges. They may need to learn skills to help with their emotional regulation, manage their ADHD, navigate family transitions such as a divorce or death, or deal with peer conflict/bullying. Students are conveniently seen at school for their sessions, so caregivers do not have to worry about making the time to take them to an appointment.
The first two intake sessions—one with the parent and one with the student—are free of charge. Summit provides financial assistance to families who qualify for extra support and matches insurance rates. Please reach out if you think your child would benefit from counseling and would like more information. My email address is sscalabrino@summitcounseling.org. You can also call Summit directly at 678-893-5300 and visit our website at Mental Health Help in Schools | The Summit Counseling Center.
