Dear Open High Family,
It's hard to believe, but we are in the final stretch of the 23-24 school year! Thanks to those who were able to come out to Parent/Caregiver Conferences on Friday. Marking Period 3 Report Cards will be distributed later this week. And thanks to all who came out again to help with Ian's pergola project on Sunday! It's going to be a beautiful addition to our school! As a reminder,

MONDAY, 3/25
- Deadline to enter March Merch Madness drawing for free item of your choice! All orders taken through Thursday only at tinyurl.com/merch! Help support the PTSA, our students, our teachers, and our one-of-a-kind school!
- Family Trivia Tournament continues today at end of 4th period.
TUESDAY, 3/26
- ALL 11th graders will participate in the SAT School Day on Tuesday, March 26. Students will report to the Fifth Baptist Church located at 1415 Grayland Avenue no later than 9:00 a.m. The new SAT is digital and along with other changes, the test is now only 2 hours and 14 minutes instead of 3 hours. Students MUST bring their charged Chromebooks AND chargers. Students need not report to Open prior to the test, but students are expected to be in their afternoon classes. Please review this SAT Parent Letter that was distributed to students last week.
WEDNESDAY, 3/27
- Our wonderful PTSA is providing Pizza Lunch for all students today in the Student Lounge. If you can help out, please sign up here.
- Volunteers with the Alliance for the Cheseapeake Bay will also be at Open to help with garden maintenance in the morning.
- Family Trivia Tournament at end of 5th period.
THURSDAY, 3/28
- GRASP Advisor Amy Swierczewski is here today and is also available virtually by appointment or email (open@grasp4va.org). If you have questions about FAFSA, would like to go through it 1:1, have a financial aid question related to secondary education, reach out!
- Our last Thursday Elective day of the year!
- March Madness Trivia Showdown at Town Meeting!: students will be dismissed from the Richmond Public Library at 3:30 p.m.

Good Samaritan Awards The staff is on the lookout for students who do small, good things to improve our community. Last week Rogan Van Jester was recognized, and we'll announce new receipents on Monday. Students win points for their Family and receive a goodie box with treats for their acts of kindness.
We want to encourage health and wellness at Open High. To that end, please read this letter about the RPS Wellness Policy and Smart Snacks.
Speech Showcase. We are looking for students to recite poetry (original or not), sing, perform skits, or do anything creative. Anyone who wants to participate should come to speech meetings for practices every Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m in Room 210. See Sierra King for details, and stay tuned for the date! Finally, congratulations to our Support Staff of the Year, Anita Murphy! Anita is our Instructional Compliance Coordinator, Student Testing Coordinator, and sponsor of the Black Student Union. She is a key member of our administrative team, and we're thrilled to celebrate her. Thank you Anita for all you do for Open High!

Rocket Science at Open 🚀
The Open High Rocket Club had a very successful launch on Friday. They were able to reach 823 and 821 feet with two rockets they made. To qualify for nationals they had to reach 820 feet! Then you need to show off your big brain and get a Seal of Bilteracy on your graduation diploma! Lucy will be admnistering the test on Wednesday, April 17. Please see her for details if you haven't already.
