Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Dear Vikings-
As 2024 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible teamwork that defines our Viking community. This year has been a testament to the strength of our partnerships—parents, students, staff and community partners coming together with a shared commitment to excellence, growth, and care.
To our parents and guardians: thank you for your support and trust. Whether it’s walking alongside us in shaping the future of your children, joining conversations about how we can grow, or sharing encouraging smiles and words of gratitude , your presence makes a profound impact. Your perspective is valued, and your partnership inspires us to do better every day.
To our students: you remind us daily why our work matters. From your perseverance in the classroom to your leadership in extracurricular activities, you embody what it means to be Vikings. I’ve watched you rally around one another—whether comforting a friend in hard times, stepping up to mentor younger students, or showing school spirit at events. Your resilience and kindness give us hope for the future.
And to our staff: you are the heart and soul of NBAPS. Your dedication, creativity, and tireless efforts are inspirational. From modeling leadership and collaboration to fostering a sense of belonging for every student, you exemplify the values of service and excellence. It has been an honor to help make your big ideas happen. It’s because of you that we can look back on this year with pride and forward with optimism.
The Viking ship is an iconic symbol of teamwork, strength, and progress. Just as every crew member played a vital role in navigating the seas, our collective effort is what makes our Viking journey remarkable. Together, we’ve proven that when we partner with purpose and lead with heart, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.
Skol, Vikings!

Join us for a Patron Tour
Interested in attending NBAPS' Friday, Feb. 14 Patron Tour? Patron Tours start at 7:45 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. Guests enjoy refreshments in the morning, tour every site in the district, and finish the half day with a lunch provided by high school ProStart students. In between guests visit classrooms and talk with staff, students, and leadership. It's a great way to learn more about NBAPS from early childhood all the way through high school! To attend, contact Pat Tepoorten at 651-674-1018 or ptepoorten@isd138.org.
All wrapped up for the holidays
Sunrise Principal Taylor Swanson arrived at work Thursday morning to find his entire office gift-wrapped by unnamed individuals; every book, knick-knack, wall and all the furniture. If he needs volunteers to help him unwrap it looks like there's a few students ready to help!
