NC 9 Principal's Update

I hope this communication finds you doing well. It is with great excitement and honor that I introduce myself, Dr. Colecia Williams, as the Principal at North Crowley 9th Grade Campus.

My love and passion for education has spanned over 18 years as a teacher, curriculum writer and administrator. I have served as an administrator in Crowley ISD since 2017 and I have enjoyed building positive relationships with families in the North Crowley community.

My number one priority as an educator is to prepare students academically and socially so that they are equipped for life beyond high school.

This year, our theme is "Excellence is Just the Beginning". At NC9, we believe in doing all things with a spirit of excellence. Below you will find important dates for you and your scholar to assist us with a smooth opening of school.

Mrs. Knighten will serve students with the last name A- L.

Mrs. Knighten has been in education for over 25 years and has previous leadership experience in Colorado, Birmingham, and Dallas, Texas. She comes from a family of educators and student achievement is her passion. Mrs. Knighten is a proud grandmother of two; has been married for 26 years; and has three beautiful adult children. She is looking forward to serving our students and parents this upcoming school year.

Mr. Williams is entering his 9th year as an educator, with this year being his 2nd at NC9. He has a passion for seeing the "whole" student grow - from academics to growing in their purpose. An "island-boy" at heart, Mr. Williams is a proud product of the British Virgin Islands, and has called Texas home for more than 10 years. He is excited to begin this upcoming school year, and is looking forward to working along with all parents and students.

Student schedules will become live in Skyward after August 1, 2023. Please check that students have a complete schedule. Please email counselors if you have questions:

Registration is online! If you have not registered your student, please do so at 2023 Student Registration. You may upload documents such as proof of residency online. Please complete registration by August 1, 2023 to ensure that your child will have a schedule. If you need assistance, please contact Mrs. Griffin at (817) 297-5896.

Schedules will be available in Skyward after August 1, 2023. However, we understand that some parents would like a paper schedule. The following dates are available for schedule pick up & student I.D's.

All students must have their I.D. before the beginning of school. The expectation is that all students wear their I.D.'s on the first day of school and everyday after.

2- 4 pm OR 6- 7:30pm

August 7, 2023

2- 4 pm OR 6- 7:30pm

August 8, 2023

2- 4 pm 5:45 - 6:00 pm (Open House is from 6- 7:30 pm)

Supplies required for high school students will be shared by individual teachers/campuses during the first week of school. Basic supplies include:

Chromebook (district will provide new Chromebooks for students without fines)

(1) Pack of dividers with tabs
Pencil pouch stocked with pencils, pens, highlighters
Pair of earbuds for computer
Bottle of sanitizer (for student's backpack)

Paper

1 Composition Notebook (Biology)

2-3 Spiral Notebooks

3-inch binder

First Day of School is August 10th! The building opens at 8 am each morning and closes at 4:30 pm. Please make sure your child has adequate transportation to and from school. Campus supervision is limited after 4:30 pm.

Students will be expected to follow the bell schedule each day. It is important that students transition to each class on time. When students are tardy, they are missing out on instructional time which impacts their learning. The NC9 administration team will communicate our tardy policy at a later time.

All 9th grade students will receive a new district issued laptop. The expectation is for students to bring their device each day. If a student has fines or fees with the district, they will NOT be issued a laptop until the fine is cleared. We will communicate the laptop retrieval procedures once they are made available by the district.
